Ana's POV

— Half an hour after Carmen's disappearance —

I wake up to someone pounding on my door. I groan and roll out of bed, shuffling to answer the door.

"Ana." Jackson rasps. "Is Carmen here?" His eyes scope out my apartment, wild and panicked.

"No." I say slowly. "What's going on?" I move aside for him to come in, but he spins on his heel and starts off again.

"Jackson!" I call after him, not bothering to lock, or even close my door. One thing about these wolves, they respect territory, so they wouldn't even enter my apartment without consent.

He's in a panicked rage, on his way to Alpha Jenkins' office. I follow behind, worried.

We get to the office and Jackson doesn't even knock, causing some growls on the other side of the door. I follow in behind him, seeing Richard and Samuel leaning over the desk, some documents in their hands.

"Jackson? Ana?" Richard says looking up to see who had dared to enter the office without even knocking. "What's going on?" He asks, seeing Jackson's expression.

"She's taken them, Rich." Jackson breathes, his rage palpable. "Right out from under my nose."

"Wait." I say quietly. "No..." I cover my mouth with my palms.

"I'm not following." Samuel says.

"It's Susan." I manage to eek out before the sobs come full force. "She's taken Carmen."

Jackson's rage boils. I can feel it from here.

"Jackson... Go out to the training range. Stay away from the wolves." I tap his shoulder lightly to get his attention. "You know I'm right. Go."

He shakes with fury, but nods slightly. In the blink of an eye, he's gone.

"Richard." I turn my eyes to the Alpha. "We need to use every resource to get my child back."

"I agree." He says calmly. "I'll send over my Warriors to investigate the house and see if they can find any clues. Then I'll contact my brother, the Alpha King, and see what we can do as far as the Supernatural Council is concerned. I'm sure she's garnered enemies throughout her life."

"Thank you, Richard." I say, breathing softly. "We need to find her as soon as possible."

"I understand the need as a parent." He smiles sadly. "We decimated another Pack just to get Shay and Taylor back."

"It's more than that, Richard." I sigh. I sit in the chair in front of the desk. "Yes, as Carmen's mother, I want them back. But at this moment, I'm also worried about Jackson."

"Yes, his anger could be dangerous." Richard sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"That's not what I mean." I look at the men, frustrated. "Richard, what happens when a wolf is separated from their new Mate? Before they've even had a chance to Mark them?"

He thinks hard. "Oh, shit." The realization dawns on him. "They go on a rampage to get their Mate back, no matter what."

"And that's only a piece of what Jackson's dealing with." I sigh, folding my hands together. "As Carmen is his Siren, he can only feed off them. Jasper told me that he had filled a couple of bags with their blood. But that won't last forever." I sigh deeply.

"What's going to happen, Ana?" Samuel asks.

"After his bout of rage, he'll fall into the Vampire's Sleep." I look at them morosely.
