Kai's POV
My paws pound the ground as I make my way to Midnight River. I have to meet with Richard as soon as I can.
We need to tell Logan. My wolf Lance reminds me.
Thanks, Lance. I'm still not used to having a Mate. I chuckle internally.
Anytime, Kai. He says warmly.
Logan? Babe, can you hear me? I call through our Mate Link. Most Wolves have a shorter range on their Link. Being Kings, we tend to have a wider range.
Hey, Pumpkin. What's up? He answers, putting a smile on my wolfy face.
Logan, I need you to meet me at Midnight River. Let Richard know we're coming. It's urgent. I say, breathing heavily as I run at top speed.
Will do, Babe. Be safe. He answers as I feel him mentally categorize the requests.
Always. I respond, sending love through our Link. I've got a Luna King that will skin me if I don't.
That you do. He chuckles. See you soon.
With that, he cuts the link, and I continue my running. It takes me about an hour to get to Richard's Pack. Logan is there waiting with a change of clothes.
"Hey, Baby." I grin, taking the clothes from his hands and quickly dress.
"Good to see you in one piece." He grins back, before pecking my lips. "So what is this urgent matter?"
"Inside." I say simply. I grab his hand and we walk to Richard's office. Since I'm the polite older brother, I knock then enter.
"Hey, guys." Richard greets us. "What's going on, Kai?"
Logan and I sit behind his desk, as he sits in front of it. Just because we are the Kings, and Richard is adamant about showing respect. "Well, as you know we had the Leader's Meeting today."
"Yes." Richard nods. "How did that go?"
"It was... Interesting." I sigh, rubbing my face. "Initially, nothing really important happened. They were surprised that we had three Packs decimated, but they understood when I explained. However, things got... Weird when It was Lord Ryland's turn to speak."
I feel a whoosh of energy and all of a sudden, King Alistair is sitting next to Richard. He waves at me to continue. I give him a glare.
"Hey, we had the same idea. Don't get mad at me." He frowns.
"You could have saved me an hour's run!" I huff.
"I had to check on Carmen and Jackson first. Tighten security, and make sure Beverly could handle things while I met with Richard." His brows furrow with concern.
"Alright." I roll my eyes. "I get your point. Anyways, Ryland was weird."
"Indeed!" Alistair agreed. "I think he's involved to a deep level."
"I agree." I say looking at him. Richard looks confused. "When we brought up that we were looking for Susan, he casually mentioned that she was dead. Like head and heart removed, stake through the heart, dead. In a hotel room." I say frowning deeply.
Richard rubs his chin. "That is troublesome. How did he even find her? From my understanding, Vampires don't have a link to each other."
"Are we sure?" Alistair asks.
"One way to find out." Richard sighs as he pulls out his phone. He calls Jasper and puts it on speaker.
"Hello, Alpha. What can I do for you?" Jasper answers.
