I spend the next few days reading the book from the library. I was completely absorbed in it. While Jackson was brainstorming with Alpha Jenkins, I was reading up on Sirens. They supposedly had powers beyond that of their Ulark.

"Would you like to learn how to harness them?" A deep voice asks.

"Who's there?" I spin around in my seat, looking and seeing no one.

The voice chuckles. "No need to be frightened, Little One." It says. "My name is Alastair. I'm your father."

"Why can I hear you, but not see you?" I ask, still looking around.

"Because we share a genetic link. I can speak to you wherever you are." He chuckles again.

"I would like to learn, of course, but I can't leave Jackson. Not again." I say sadly.

"Jackson... This is the name of your Ulark, yes?" He asks. As he finishes speaking, a tall man materializes in front of me.

I have never seen him before, but I know in an instant that he's my father. I can see my own characteristics in him. My own eyes look back at me, surrounded by the same shaggy brown hair.

"Dad..." I whisper.

"Hey, Little One." He smiles at me. "You've grown into an amazing person." He grins, and holds his arms out for a hug.

"Sorry, but I don't trust you enough for a hug yet." I say sadly.

"No worries, we can build up to it." He smiles softly and drops his arms. "So, Jackson is your Ulark, yes?"

"Yes." I smile. "He's a Vampire, so I can't just leave him... Not again." I look at the floor sadly.

"Again?" He looks alarmed. "Little One, what happened?"

"Well..." I close the book and look up at him. "We thought we were safe and happy here. We had our own house and everything. But then one morning, Susan, the Vampire who posed as my mother for my entire life kidnapped me. It took an entire year for the Wolves to track her down and save me. In that time, Jackson had slipped into the Vampire's Sleep. He had to be guarded for months, to keep him safe. I can't do that to him again."

Alastair hums as he sits down. "I see." He rubs his stubbled chin. "We better take him with us then."

"Where would we go?" I ask, alarmed.

"Not to worry." He chuckles, seeing my concern. "We would go back to my home. I have enchantments to keep others out."

"What about my mom?" I ask him.

His nose crinkles. "Susan? That bitch can burn."

"No, I mean Ana." I chuckle.

"Oh, Ana." His face takes on a fond expression. "We could leave a note? Or if you like we could talk to her before we leave."

"Can we talk to her? And maybe the Alpha here? He's been really nice and looks after us all." I look at him with hope.

"Okay." He smiles. "Let's go talk to the Alpha then."

He stands and motions for me to lead the way. I stand and take the book with me. We get to the door of the room and I find the guard, Marcus standing watch today.

"Hey, Marcus. We're going to go see the Alpha. Can you escort us there?" I ask, getting his attention.

He looks startled, especially since I haven't left mine and Jackson's room in days. Then he notices Alastair standing behind me and immediately goes on the offense, sliding me behind him.
