Reader's POV

There was more buzz around the school than usual. Not that it bothered me, it was just unusual for this school. Sure, schools would gossip about the littlest things, and make annoying trends that never get "old" until the end of the year, but this school was very reserved and didn't gossip unless it was very unnerving.

But what wasn't unusual was that Alicia started the buzz.

"(Nickname)! Did you hear?" Alicia hopped up to my secret spot in the school yard. I go there to read every day at lunch.

"Not necessarily. Why?" I bookmarked my page and set my book down.

"There was a mass murder in Jenovia Park!" Alicia plopped down beside me and dug into her bag. After a minute, she tore out a notebook, opened to a random page and showed it to me. In the notebook were... Notes. Many, many notes.

It read,

Gory massacre in Jenovia Park at 13:30 yesterday! 39 people either sliced open or brutally crushed like a bug!!! Coroners conclude that the people sliced in half were torn open by a buzz saw!!! The people crushed were... Stepped on?!?!

That's all there was so far. But it was a small notebook, so...

I was worried about these causes of death. Who could cause a death this brutal? Even in my previous school, I would not have caused such a bloody finish.

And finally... Stepped on?!? How the hell do you do that without being at least nine feet tall?! My breath hitched in my throat at that moment, and time stopped.

There was only one person... Who would be able to crush someone with their foot... And they wouldn't need to be nine feet tall... Ah... Aaaaaah!

I bit my bottom lip hard, hoping that it would bleed. I knew 'that person' was dead. And I don't think about them at all... But this style of killing... Could someone have copied their style? Was someone trying to imitate them? Those... Are the only logical explanations...!

"Furthermore..." Alicia went on. "They wrote this on a wall in blood at the crime scene. 'I COME FOR YOU, DARLING. AMUSE ME WHEN I GET THERE.'"

I bit my lip harder. Now I was sure of it. There was only one person who called me 'darling'. I had many nicknames inside the family. Sweet pea, Bulldozer, Chickadee, Baby Girl, Jackass, Vera, Diane, Reena, Kid, Child of Man, Pawn of the Queen, Tyrone (by accident), Eve, Woman, Child, Dead Man, Tower, Rape Target, etc.! But Darling was used by one person in the family. 'That person'!!

"Y/n, are you okay...?" Alicia patted my thigh. I found my breath and exhaled, realizing how long I had gone without breathing.

After panting for a while, I responded. "Y-yeah... I'm good..."

"Did I scare you?"

"No! It's impossible to scare me with those kinds of amateur murders! It's just not gonna happen!" I lied, yelling defiantly.

"Then... What's wrong?"

"Just... Thinking about a family member..."

I reluctantly opened the door to my house, hoping Killua nor Alluka would notice my troubled expression. So I put on the most convincing smile I could and pushed the door open.

I was surprised to find no one in the living room. Not even the TV was on. "Killua? Alluka?" My voice trembled against my will. There wasn't an answer.

Maybe they were asleep? No, Killua would've reacted. I gulped and closed the door behind me slowly. Then I locked it and sauntered around the house to see if they were even here.

I walked upstairs into my room. The beds were neat, and looked like they hadn't been touched since this morning. I looked at my alarm clock. It was 15:00. Much earlier than when I usually get home. Alluka's program doesn't end until 16:00.

I suddenly dropped my bag and slapped my cheeks with both hands. Get ahold of yourself! 'They' don't know where you live! 'They' have no way of finding you! 'They' can't haunt you with their presence anymore...

Because 'they're dead! And they will stay dead, no matter what!!!

I bit my lip once more and continued searching throughout the house. After ten minutes, I confirmed it. Alluka and Killua are not home yet.

I went to the living room and kicked off my shoes. Then, I went to the kitchen and grabbed a wide knife from a drawer. Then I went to the couch and sat down with the knife beside me.

All the time... I thought about 'that person'. Why were they looking for me...? Why did they want me?! Why didn't they visit our family's graves first?! I knew 'that person' would never look at their families' graves.

Fear clogged up my chest and I began to breathe heavily. Why was I afraid of them? I loved them as a child... So why do I fear them now?! I laid down on my side, still gripping the knife tightly.

I opened my eyes slowly, taking in the dim light. I blinked twice, confused. I looked at the clock above the television. It was 17:49. I guess I'd dozed off...

I tried to grip the knife, but I found myself gripping air. I widened my eyes all the way. Where was the knife?! I also felt a warm hand on my side. It felt comforting...

Yawning, I moved to get up, causing the warm hand to move away from my waist.

"Did you have a good nap, baby...?" I heard Killua's sweet, soft voice.

"Killua...? When did you get home?" I almost said 'here', but I remembered. We wanted to be married. So I should practice saying, "Welcome Home" and crap.

"'Bout an hour ago. We found you laying here with a knife in your hand! What was that about?" He asked, wrapping an arm around my waist as I rested my head on his shoulder.

"I'll tell you later. Where's Alluka...?" I whispered, closing my eyes.

"She's right here." I looked over to Killua's other side and saw Alluka laying on the couch, resting her head on Killua's thigh. The silver-haired young man was rubbing her head as she slept peacefully.

I yawned again while Killua ran his hand over my thigh. "You're sure you're okay, love?"

I nodded and kissed his neck softly. "I'm perfectly fine..."

Then, I remembered... That I really wasn't. I thought about 'that person' for a second, and it caused fear to clogged my chest. I bit my lip once again.

"What's wrong, y/n?" Killua asked, hitting the jackpot.

"I'll tell you later."

"Will you really?"

"... Yes."

"Alright then, Ms. Big Boobs."

I frowned deeply and slapped his free thigh hard. "No. Just... No."

"I love you too." Killua kissed the top of my head.

"Don't give me that nickname anymore..." I pleaded.

Killua kissed my head again. "Fine, fine... "

I smiled contently after that. Who cares about 'that person'. They'll come for me when they come for me. And even though they knew everything about me when I was little... They're gonna have a big surprise when they see my boyfriend.

Oh, yes they are.
