Even after Amira had woken up and actually had a conversation with us, that had risen some sort of hope in my chest that she was okay, the seizure she had, had set her back tremendously, making one of the fragments embedded in her side to go from a slow flow to a rapid gushing of blood.
Lilly, who was hopeful like the rest of us was quick to try and work against the clock, completely removing the bandage from her side and forcing medical gauze inside the wound as well as a thick layer of patching on top of the already deep red gauze she'd shoved into the wound.
"She needs more blood if she's gonna keep surviving" Lilly states as Hershel rushes into the room, having heard the commotion and deeming it nessecary that the girl now needed bother if their help, as Carl, hyped up on pain killers was cheating and calm, made alarm bells blade in my head as I volunteer to give her more blood, but Lilly quickly refuses as I'd given her far more than I should've already.
"You've done your part Gage, if you give her anymore blood, you'll be in a bed along side her." Lilly tells me, and I bite my tongue, refusing to tell her that I would be fine, but Nate gives my shoulder a tight squeeze. Before I can verbally argue, Hershel is shoving a needle into his arm and they're taking Nate's blood instead of mine.
Everyone moves like a blur around me now, and I can't help but to stand idly by as blood drips from Nate's arm, through the tube and into Amira as Lilly and Hershel bustle around the room at mock speed trying to find alternatives to slow the bleeding.
I can't feel anything, the hope slipping away as Lilly and Hershel are constantly shouting things to the other while almost trying to make sure the girl in the bed doesn't slip through their fingers.
Somehow, Glenn drags me from the room, being ordered to make me leave by Hershel as I was only serving to be in their way as they try to rectify the situation.
When the cold air of the night hits my skin, I feel like I've been punched in the gut.

I can't stop moving, constantly pacing and moving around the porch as I fight against everything telling me to go back inside the house to make sure Amira's still alive, that she hadn't painfully slipped away from us as Hershel and Lilly try to keep her alive.
"She's too stubborn to be taken out by a gunshot wound," Glenn says after what feels like an eternity of awkward silence between us, and I try to ignore him, and the burning desire to say fuck everyone in there and go back to being at her side. "Gage." He says but I continue to ignore him, my focus on trying to distract myself but it's not working for shit.
He gets up from the porch swing, and steps in front of my path, putting a hand on my shoulder and making me stop my seemingly never ending pacing, that if possible would leave a hole in the wood on the porch.
"You care about her don't you?" He asks me, and I clench my jaw at his question. "Look I do too, but she's going to pull through this, alright? We have to believe that she'll be okay." He tells me and I flex my hands together, not exactly in the mood to have a conversation with him about the one person I can't even pin point my own feelings about.
"I don't know what kind of relationship you two have, but she needs us right now. To be strong for her and believe that those doctors in there know what they're doing and they'll do everything they can to make sure she lives through this." Glenn tells me and I run my hand through my messy hair and nod.
