In the same moment we walk out of the tent, a pair of headlights adorn the road leading to the farm house and we're all moving toward them as they pull up to the house, anticipation coursing through all of us to see who it is that's returned.

The moment Shane leaves the car, with Lori exiting the passenger seat, something inside me bristles.

Of all people to come back it had to be these two.

I was hoping it was my hair brain friend and the leader of our group.

"Oh my god what happened?" Andrea bellows as she approaches Lori who's holding a rag to her head.

Even in the dark, I notice the small gash on her lip with small trails of blood leaking from the wound.

"I was in an accident I'm fine." She reassures like its not big deal. "I'm fine I really am, where's Rick?" She asks and when Shane walks away and everyone goes silent it's then I realize what's wrong.

Shane must've lied to bring her back.

"They're not back?" The women asks everyone and when no one replies she looks at Shane. "Where are they?" She asks the man.
"Look, I had to bring you back." Shane tries to tell her and it's then she approaches him and shoves him.

"You asshole." She accuses with a push.

"Lori." He tries to interject.

"He's my husband!" She exclaims dramatically like her own rescue mission had gone over well, like she'd done anything by leaving.

"Lori, I will go after him. I will find him." Shane tries to reassure her but she's having none of it. "Look, first things first I gotta... I gotta look after you. I gotta make sure the babies alright." Shane spews as he pushes her away and it's then every single person in our small collected group stops and stares at both of them.

"You're having a baby?" Carl asks from behind Shane and everyone goes silent as Carl stares at his mother. "Why didn't you tell me?" The young boy asks his mother as she looks to everyone else for an answer.

Lori stampers for some sort of reply to give to her son and after some more silence Dale beckons her over.

"Come on, let's go make sure you're alright." He says, gesturing for her to come over with him.

Andrea ushers her along and after a nasty look thrown to Shane, Lori, Andrea, and Dale head off to the house to make sure the now pregnant women alright.

Everyone else disbands, heading their own respective ways, and when it's only Gage and my dad left beside me, I wait for one of them to break the errie silence that's fallen over us.

Gage wordlessly grabs my shoulder, his version of a goodbye as he leaves my dad and I alone.

When everyone is out of earshot, my dad turns to me, looking all bits of exhausted as the rest of us surely do.

"Do I need to worry about losing another kid this week?" He asks me, and it's like a punch to the gut.

While I was having something along the lines of a mental breakdown, my father was more concerned about the fallout of it all. Like this, losing my sister for good this time, was going to lead me to killing myself or something.

"If you're thinking I'm going to kill myself, you can stop worrying. I'm a little more capable than that." I tell him bluntly, no emotion coating my words.
