The next morning, the four of them went to the beach to cool their selves off from the intense heat.
Once they arrived, Sarada dashed to the water as Boruto screamed after her. One glance from him, and Kawaki and Sumire knew.
He dropped the bags and ran after her to the water. Sumire sighed as she collected the bags. Kawaki did as well.
Both of them remained in an awkward silence as they attempted to figure out what the other was thinking-to set up their area, of course.
"I will set up the chairs and umbrellas."
"Towels and foods," Sumire and Kawaki agreed as they assigned their roles.
Sumire prepared the towels for Boruto and Sarada in case they returned. Kawaki, on the other hand, set up their chairs and an umbrella to provide shade.
Moving on, Sumire reorganized the food and drinks and placed them in the center of the seats.
After everything was set up, they both stood in front of it, admiring their work.
"So, uh... Are you going to go for a swim?" Kawaki asked, rubbing his neck nervously.
Sumire gave him a quick smile. Declining, someone had to stand behind and keep an eye on all of their belongings.
"No, thanks. Someone needs to be here to protect everything. Plus, getting tanned won't be so bad!" She replied with a bright smile.
Kawaki blushed slightly but nodded in response as he dashed to the water.
Sumire's smile faded as she watched him run away. Sighing, she removed her skirt and placed it in her bag.
She wore a light purple bikini. It was a little revealing, but it was worth getting a tan.
She lied down, closed her eyes, and let the sun hit her skin after placing her towel on the sand.
It was hot, and the weather was ideal for getting a nice tan.
People nearby made faint noises. Children playing, the sound of sodas opening. It was what she craved and missed hearing.
Sounds of the waves and the sensation of sand. It was so magical.
"So, I decided not to-" Kawaki quickly returned and stood before her shocked when he noticed Sumire's bikini.
Her top was too short in his opinion, and it felt too revealing of her lower body. Kawaki let out a quiet groan as he passed by her and sat down.
Sumire rose quickly and looked at him, surprised. "Y-You sure came back quickly!" Sumire stammered.
He ignored her lingering gaze and focused on some seagulls in the far-off distance to distract himself. "I didn't feel like getting wet yet," he replied.
Sumire turned away and returned to lying on her towel.
Sarada and Boruto eventually came running back. All wet and laughing. Sumire quickly stood up and watched as they raced back to their area.
In the end, Sarada won. Despite panting and dripping, they had enough energy for more. "Hey, Kawaki. Hand me a water?" Boruto asked.
Kawaki opened his eyes and groaned as he opened the cooler and threw a water bottle at him. Boruto caught it and chugged it down.
Sumire watched as he did so. Despite admiring his every feature, she could not get over the feelings that still lingered in her.
"Hey, Sumire! Why don't you come for a swim?" Sarada asked as she began to dry herself. Sumire's face immediately lit up at her offer.
"Sure, why not!" She exclaimed as she stood up from her towel. She quickly folded it and fixed her bikini before running to the ocean with Sarada.
Sumire felt shivers run up and down her body, as their feet touched the water. The water was cold, but also pleasant.
The water was almost at their stomachs as they descended deeper. "It's so nice!" Sumire spoke as she began to splash Sarada.
Sarada laughed and started splashing back at Sumire.
They both began giggling and playing in the water together. People made ridiculous faces at them, but they didn't care because they were too busy having fun.
They both became tired and decided to return to their original location.
When they arrived, Kawaki and Boruto were already eating. When their gaze fell on the girls, it felt as if the world had stopped for them.
Boruto blushed at Sarada's appearance, while Kawaki simply looked away from Sumire's bikini.
Sumire and Sarada wrapped the towel around themselves and began drying themselves.
"Wow, that looks delicious!" Sumire spoke as she noticed Boruto and Kawaki's plates.
It contained steak, salad, and rice. Along with a coke to wash everything down.
Boruto smiled. "Yeah! Let me fix you guys a plate," he said, reaching for two plates.
He prepared one and quickly handed it to Sarada, whose eyes lit up in response. Boruto blushed from her reaction and became distracted by something else, completely forgetting about Sumire's plate.
Her smile faded as she watched him become distracted. Sighing, she reached for her plate but was stopped by another hand. "Let me do it," Kawaki said as he began fixing her plate.
Sumire blushed at his actions and patiently waited. He handed it to her and waited for her reaction.
Her cheeks flushed, and she seemed eager to eat it all. "T-Thank you, Kawaki!" she exclaimed as she began to eat the steak.
Kawaki smiled slightly when he saw her reaction.
He returned to his chair, hoping no one saw it. The only person who noticed it was Sarada, who was smirking in the corner due to their interactions.
