Kyla Foster

And what do you think about this one?" I asked my mother, pointing to a golden-colored dress with a large neckline on the back.

"It's too open," she replied while she herself examined some dresses, too old-fashioned for my taste.

We are in a boutique and we are choosing clothes for the upcoming wedding. When I found out that Ryker was going to be there, I was angry at first.

But then I realized that more than anything in the world, I want to see him in a tuxedo and myself in a flashy dress. And then fall asleep next to him in Las Vegas in an expensive hotel.

So I didn't complain. And as for mom, she somehow managed to digest the fact that I'm with Ryker now. And that he really did break up with Madison.

I'm really trying to show her what Ryker and I have. And I think he's starting to understand.

Just then I get a message from him.

Ryker: Did you find the dress?

Me: No, I don't like any of them. And none of them will look good on me.

Ryker: Shut up. You know very well that it will.

Me: I'm serious. There are none in my style.

Ryker: Hm...Sounds like you need my help.

Me: With choosing a dress?

Ryker: Yeah. Send me the location and I'll be there in five minutes.

Me: I'm with my mom.

Ryker: Never mind. She must get to know me better anyway

I don't know if it's right or not. I mean, I could use his help, but to pick out my dress while...my mom is around? That is wrong. I feel bad anyway because I'm going to this wedding.

But if I didn't show up, Madison would know right away that something was up. Although Ryker and I plan to tell her after the wedding that we are together anyway.

And I am aware of the risk and the burden that I will have to take on myself.

But I can't keep it a secret from her anymore. She must know. Regardless of the fact that later they will try to destroy my life and that the whole school will hate me in the fall. I was always invisible there or known simply as 'Madison's runner'.

Now everyone will know me as the girl who betrayed her friend and stole her boyfriend. But my relationship with Ryker is worth it. Definitely.

I send him the location and then I approach my mother. He looked at me with an arched eyebrow.

"What do you need?"

"Ryker will come now. To help me choose a dress. Just so you know..."

Her expression immediately turned serious. He watches me in silence for a moment before speaking.

"Regardless of the fact that he's no longer with Madison, what you two do can have consequences. And I'm sure he will. Every truth comes out Kyle..."

"I know. And I'm ready for the consequences. Mom, I love him so much...He is...the most beautiful thing that happened to me in my life."

The only thing I see in my mother's eyes is condemnation and disgust, not compassion.

I somewhat understand why he is against me and Ryker. She has known Madison since childhood and knows what kind of friendship we had.
