“Smiling can be pretty and cryptic”

"Crimes happen at night."
Mishka tilted her face, her face relaxed, calm and composed. No one can say that she has woken up from a seven day coma.
There's not a single wrinkle in muscles or a hint of tiredness or perhaps concern visible on her angelic face. If one looks at her, they'll only say - she got a high fever.
She hides her pain, she has been doing this ever since she remembers.
"What do you think? Are the culprits cowards that they choose complete darkness for doing their sin?"
Mishka clicks her tongue in disapproval, lifting the white pawn, she pushes the black knight back, "The pawns are cowards." she fixed her calculative gaze over the chess board, "They take themselves granted, constantly feeling powerless, think that they're only subjected to be played by in the game," she pause, an eerily victory smirk curl up on the edge of her lips as she watched how effortlessly she sealed the path for the blacks to win, "Forgetting that they can rule and play better than the sinners."
She looked up at her opponent, a satisfaction spreading in her nerves seeing the confusion, nervous of losing the game.
She is proud of herself, how easily she traps her opponents without giving chance to escape, a hint to predict her next step.
"What happened? Can't find the way?" She asked, feigning innocence.
Her opponent gulped, scratching his brow, he kept one pawn in front of the king, blocking from sides.
"Wow!" Mishka shook her head, straightening her lips, and placed her knight on the F6 block, "Checkmate!"
She intertwines her fingers, supporting her chin, she hears a long, defeated sigh, "Won't you even try to win now Mr....she trails off, looking straight into the eyes older than her...Vinay Khanna?"
Vinay stood up, pushing his chair back, he walked opposite the room, focusing outside the window, the night splashing on his face, "Not anymore."
"So bad," Mishka shook her head in disappointment, "You always told me not to leave anything in between. Why not apply the same rule to yourself, Sir?"
"Mishka, will you stop?" Vinay turned around, his voice rising more than normal.
"Not anymore," She says, picking up her knight, "I gave you a chance," She touched the king, pushing the player down on the board, "You lost it." She ended the game.
His eyes glisten with unshed tears, "What are you still, entirely upset about?"
"Do you know a fact?" She asked, keeping the players back in the box, "Betrayal never comes from an enemy," adding further, she picked up the white queen, "And I never considered you my friend." She tilted her head, flipping the queen, she pushed the black bishops back, "after this, you know."
