Minji

With the amount of crazy shit happening, it felt like forever when I finally got discharged. Hanni had gotten discharged a few days before me and I haven't seen her since and for some reason I this strange longing to see her again.

That's why, here I was, at the office earlier than usual. Employees usually arrive at 8:30 while I arrive at 9:00, but this time, I was here 20 minutes earlier, purely because I wanted to see my secretary. I know, it sounds fishy and it feels fishy, but I just wanted to see whether she was ok.

As I walked through the plethora of desks where employees resided, I was greeted with surprised yet enthusiastic faces. I didn't know whether to feel offended that these people were shocked to their core that I was here early, because that would imply they thought I was lazy or entitled. Nevertheless, the only thing on my mind was seeing Hanni.

I took the private elevator up, the soft music playing accompanied me as the familiar golden walls stared back at me. When the doors finally opened, the ding announcing my arrival, I stepped out, going straight to Hanni's office.

Through the tinted glass door, I could see her figure rushing around the office, sorting papers and getting ready for the day. I raised my hand to knock on her door, but before I could, the door swung open and I barely missed getting hit in the nose. That would've embarrassing and irritating, getting a broken nose after just getting discharged from the hospital.

Hanni's blue eyes widened in surprise slightly, before she had her signature ice cold princess expression on. She bowed, muttering an apology before rising and giving me a questioning look.

"Why are you here so early, Miss Kim?" she asked, her voice monotone. For a moment it felt like we never shared those moments in the hospital, vivid hallucinations that haunted my nights. She's damn good at covering up her emotions.

"I told you, you can call me Minji," I said, ignoring her question for the time being.

"We're in the workplace Miss Kim," she sounded kind of surprised and it was mixed with an unknown emotion I couldn't decipher. "Anyway, did you need anything?" she averted the topic from the drop in formalities thing.

I wanted to say so badly that I came to see her, but that would probably creep her out. I mean, we are just boss and employee, so of course it would sound weird. We both had moral obligations to keep to ourselves, but something about Hanni made me feel like we could potentially cross those boundaries.

I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard her clear her throat, her eyes boring into me expectantly. I realised I've been zoned out for way too long, and I gulped nervously, a blush painting my cheeks.

"I..I wanted to talk to you about something i...important!" I squeaked out. Mentally face palming myself, my cheeks getting hotter, I turned around and walked back to my office. Hanni followed behind me and I closed my eyes, trying not to internally combust.

I never stutter. I'm a woman of confidence and dare I say, charisma. What the fuck am I feeling?

Hanni closed the door behind her as I did everything to avoid facing her. I stared aimlessly at the view of Seoul below, the cars driving by, the people scrambling to their destinations of the sidewalk, the sun illuminating the day. I even saw the group of body guards dad hired surrounding the office like a bunch of hyenas.

I felt Hanni move to stand beside me and we both stood there in comfortable silence.

"Thank you," she broke the silence, her voice soft and tinted with vulnerability.

I furrowed my eyebrows, turning to her. She turned to me too, her eyes still cold and calculating.

"Thank me for what?" I asked, bewilderment evident in my voice.
