Behind his dimpled smile and sugary eyes lies a past of hardships. Zee lives aimlessly, hopping from job to job, unable to keep stable employment. But when he is invited to take a position at the prestigious Haven Hotel, Zee's life changes from a le...

Four days passed since the bloody incident, and four days passed since Nat gave Zee a call. Nat told him that the hotel had given him time off work. Paid time off. When asked why, Nat responded that the hotel would sometimes raffle out paid time off.
Such a weird tradition, Zee thought, almost unheard of.
But Zee accepted the offer. And now he was on his last day of vacation.
Max on the other hand...
He left Zee's house the day after the accident. He called home and learned his parents and younger sisters were traveling. And after a long argument with Zee, they agreed Max could return home only if the latter went into a hospital to get stitches on his arm. Furthermore, Haven offered Max a week's worth of paid sick leave and more if he petitioned for it. But Zee had a feeling Max would go back to work as soon as he could. And he did. He went the day after he left Zee's apartment.
Zee shook his head as he ruminated about how stupid and stubborn he thought his friend was being. But he quickly threw the thought away, just as quickly as he tossed the remote in his hand. It was nearly noon and Zee had run out of TV to watch. His series (the ones worth watching, anyway) weren't on air at this time, and he was hungry.
Really, really hungry.
Zee sauntered out in an old and worn-out t-shirt and track pants, an ecobag in one hand and his wallet in the other. Mind as well get some groceries, he thought, and maybe I'll get some street food on the way back.

"Hello?" Zee held the phone between his ear and shoulder, "You want me to get it for you? Why would you forget something so important like that at home?" Zee juggled the movements of balancing his phone on his shoulder as his ecobag slipped off his other free shoulder while he was digging into his track pants for his key.
"Well, can you drop it off or not?" Max's voice was overrun with static over the phone.
Zee sighed, "I mean, sure. Let me drop off my groceries. Then I'll grab your master key and drop it off."
Zee opened his door after struggling and tossed his ecobag on the floor by his entrance before jogging over to the main street. Waving his hand, he grabbed a taxi and rushed to Max's house.
"Uncle, can you stay here? I'm only going for a minute and I'll be back."
Zee rushed out before the driver responded. He jumped into the yard, past the gate, and quickly pushed in the door code: Max's birthdate (the most idiotic type of password, but he digressed). Then he tossed his slippers off and ran inside, grabbing the master key off from the dining table. Sprinting outside, he asked the taxi driver to take him to the Haven.
