Chawarin sat up, his legs crossed under him and head tilted up at Zee, waiting patiently for his words; and this broke Zee even more. He bit his lips, as he waited for the words to flow from his mouth. That's how, he always described it in his novel: "the words escaped his lips" or "it just slipped out." But that was in a novel. That was all part of his imagination.

That was not real life.

Real life was harder. Real life stared at Zee through his eyes, patiently waiting and cautiously placating him. Zee felt pathetic. He wanted to act brave, for once he wanted to just pretend to be brave. But it was so difficult.

Chawarin watched Zee's lip quiver, "Baby?"

Zee brought Chawarin's hand to his lips and kissed the back of his hand. And then he rolled the hand onto his face and breathed in his scent. He felt his breath skip, but he forced his words out.

"Nhu, I..."

"You..."

"I," Zee swallowed his flooding mouth, "I've—"

Chawarin pulled his hand away and swiped Zee's into his own, pressing his lips on his knuckles as well. He spoke into his flesh, "I like you."

Zee gulped.

"I really like you," he said again, "So don't be afraid of me."

Zee swallowed and knocked his forehead on Chawarin's. He took a deep breath and exhaled. And in that breath, he whispered, "I lied to you."

Chawarin wrapped his hands around Zee's cheeks, rubbing his thumbs along Zee's sideburns, "Mm, about what?"

"I... You're going to hate me."

He chuckled as he stroked at Zee's temple, "I might—"

Zee looked up at Chawarin, but the latter smiled as he kissed Zee's nose.

"But my like for you will dismiss a lot of things."

"Even bad things?"

"Even bad things," Chawarin affirmed.

"Really bad things?"

"How bad?"

Zee closed his eyes and exhaled again. Chawarin frowned, sighing as he waited I'm the silence.

"How long are you going to take—"

"I switched out your Seeds."

A beat of silence overcame them.

"...What?"

Zee's breath trembled and Chawarin moved back, away from Zee. Their hands went cold as they separated. Zee almost reached out, his hands desperate to hold on, but they shook as he stretched his fingers. He balled them up again and stuck them in his lap. He looked away as he felt the bed shifting—Chawarin moving further.
