Asiya woke early, her mind still spinning from the whirlwind of recent events. The weight of Ibrahim’s gaze and the intensity of his words lingered in her heart. The growing affection she felt for him, juxtaposed with Fahad's neglect, left her feeling unsettled. She wished she had someone to confide in about this emotional turmoil, knowing that today would pose yet another challenge.
At breakfast, her mother sensed her distraction. “Asiya, yade me kike tunani? You seem preoccupied.”
“Babu komai, Mama. Ina tunanin test da zamuyi anjima,” Asiya replied, trying to mask her true feelings with a casual tone.
“Alhamdulillah, tunda babu wani damuwa. It's important to be comfortable with your thoughts. Your father is coming back today.”
“Alhamdulillah, Allah yadawo dasu lafiya,” Asiya said, offering a grateful smile.
“Mariya is about to leave. You should get ready so she can drop you off at school.”
Asiya nodded absently, her thoughts consumed by the implications of her feelings for Ibrahim and how Fahad’s indifference might impact their relationship.
At school, Asiya’s day commenced with a mathematics class. Despite her efforts to concentrate, her thoughts continuously drifted. During a brief break, her gaze wandered around the classroom, inevitably settling on Ibrahim. He was engaged in a serious discussion with Ahmad. Ibrahim, meanwhile, noticed how Asiya’s uniform perfectly complemented her grace. The way her hijab framed her face accentuated her beauty, making her stand out.
The bell rang, ending the class, and Asiya collected her books. As she was about to leave, she collided gently with Ibrahim in the hallway.
“Morning, Sia,” he greeted softly, his voice imbued with a warmth that sent a shiver down her spine.
“Morning, Ibrahim,” she replied, her heart pounding. They stood in a moment of silence, charged with unspoken emotions.
“I have some notes from the classes you missed this term. If you need them, I can share,” he offered, his eyes reflecting a genuine concern.
“That would be wonderful. Thank you,” she said, appreciating his thoughtfulness.

During lunch, Asiya sat with Rukayya and Kay, who were animatedly discussing an upcoming school event. Despite their lively conversation, Asiya’s attention was repeatedly drawn to Ibrahim, who was seated at another table with Ahmad.
Fahad entered the cafeteria with a clouded expression and joined their table, his demeanor noticeably cold towards Asiya. The tension was palpable.
“Hey, Sia,” he said curtly, his voice carrying an edge. “We need to talk.”
“Sure,” she replied, her stomach tightening with apprehension.
They moved to a quieter corner of the cafeteria. “What’s going on between you and Ibrahim?” Fahad’s voice was sharp, his eyes searching hers with intensity.
“Nothing, Fahad. We’re just friends,” she replied, striving to keep her voice steady.
“Friends? I see the way he looks at you. And the way you look at him,” Fahad’s accusation stung, his gaze piercing.
Asiya took a deep breath, her resolve hardening. “Fahad, you’re my boyfriend. You need to trust me. Lately, you’ve been distant. Have I done something to upset you?”
He sighed deeply, rubbing his temples in frustration. “I’m sorry, Asiya. I care about you more than you know. It’s just… I have a lot on my plate right now.”
