Asiya stepped out of the Uber, her heart racing with anticipation and a hint of anxiety. The familiar sights and sounds of home surrounded her, bringing a sense of comfort and warmth. As she approached the front door, it swung open, and her mother and father stood there, their faces lighting up with joy at the sight of her.
“Mama, Baba!” Asiya exclaimed, rushing into their open arms.
“Welcome Auta,” Baba said, his voice filled with warmth. “We’ve missed you.”
Mama held her tightly, tears of happiness in her eyes. “Alhamdulillah, you are all in good health we wanted to surprise you guys”
"Sannu da dawowa nayi missing inku" asiya said
Asiya’s sisters, Ya Farha and Ya Mariya, joined the embrace, making it a family reunion. They all moved inside, the house filled with laughter and chatter as they caught up on everything that had happened in the past few weeks.
Later, they gathered in the garden, the aroma of freshly prepared food wafting from the kitchen. They shared stories and memories, the atmosphere light and joyful. Asiya felt a deep sense of contentment, surrounded by her loved ones.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Baba went to answer it, they greeted "i have some information about your daughter Asiya do you mind if i come in" led him in he entered, carrying an envelope. He greeted the family politely and Baba led him to his study.
After a while, they both came out baba's face clouded with anger and concern. He held the envelope tightly in his hand, his knuckles white.
“Asiya,” he called, his voice stern.
Asiya’s heart skipped a beat. “Yes, Baba?”
“Come here,” As the man says his good bye to the family
Asiya stood up, her legs feeling weak as she walked towards him. Baba handed her the envelope. She opened it with trembling hands, pulling out a stack of photographs. Her eyes widened in shock as she saw images of her and Ibrahim together, their outings documented in detail. There were pictures of them at the park, at the university, and even from this morning when she got into the Uber outside his house.
“Baba, I can explain,” Asiya began, but Baba cut her off.
“Is this how you repay our trust?” he demanded, his voice rising. “Running around with a boy who is suspected to be born out of wedlock? Have you no shame?”
Asiya’s eyes filled with tears. “Baba, you have spoken with Ibrahim he is a good person. And was not born out of wedlock He treats me with respect and love. Please, let me explain.”
Baba sends a slap across her face
“Explain?” Baba shouted. “Explain what? That you’ve been deceiving us, sneaking around behind our backs? Do you know what this could do to our family’s reputation?”
Mama and Asiya’s sisters watched in stunned silence, the joy of the reunion shattered by Baba’s anger. Ya Farha and Ya Mariya exchanged worried glances, unsure of what to do.
“Baba, please,” Asiya pleaded. “Ibrahim loves me. He wants to marry me. He’s a good man, regardless what people say about him”
Baba’s face was red with fury. “I will not hear another word about this. You will end this relationship immediately. Do you understand?”
Asiya’s tears flowed freely now. “Baba, I can’t do that. I love him.”
Baba’s expression hardened. “If you defy me on this, ranki ze mummunan baci badan bansan how far you too have gone ba da yau zan daura miki aure. In 3months zanmiki aure kowa ya huta da ki bata mana suna.”
