Before we left the house, my parents and I spent about fifteen minutes catching up on anything that happened recently in our lives. My father was the one who asked me what I did for my birthday. I shared with them how I had spent my birthday with my best friends and my cousin at a new local bar where we listened to live music and had an amazing time.

I didn't leave out about how I ran into Calvin and Samuel after not seeing either of them for five years. At the mention of this, my parents looked at me with concern that I don't blame them. I told them that we had a mature and quick greeting. It took some convincing that I am okay and it was only a matter of time that the three of us were going to cross paths eventually.

"Sweetheart, please remember it's your choice to let them back into your life if you feel ready to take that step." Those were the words that my father told me as we were ready to leave the home.

After all of these years, my father doesn't fail to  show that he still cares about me.

It's safe to mention that I had an amazing time with my parents at the movies and eating dinner afterwards at my all time favorite restaurant. By the time we had gotten back home, the sunset was gone,  it was replaced by the beautiful night sky and the tiny shiny stars spread amongst the sky.

The first item on my nighttime routine was to take a quick shower and put on my pajamas. I know that my parents were currently in their room watching a tv show. I closed my bedroom's door and sat down on a red chair near the window with a book sitting down on my lap. My dog, Luna, was sleeping in the middle of my bed curled up in a small circle.

To this day, I love reading, especially at night. I always manage to read a couple of pages no matter how tired I am. I was introduced to reading at a young age by my parents. It's unavoidable when your father is a writer who sometimes produces and you have a mother who sells books for a living.

I didn't follow any of my parent's career pathway, I wanted to study film at university to become an actress and I did achieve my dream. The main reason that I decided to study film is I grew up watching everything that happens in the process of making movies or tv shows and I wanted to be a part of it. My father is helping me to find the right manager for me and to get some auditions.

My best friend Peyton has a similar career, she studied theater in order to make her dream of becoming a theater actress. From acting right beside my best friend during our high school's plays, I know she is going wonderfully in the theater industry. I can't wait to see her shine underneath the golden light.

As I picked up my book from my lap to start reading, a deep feeling to check my phone entered into my body. I know better than not to ignore it, so I picked up my phone from the nightstand next to the chair. I unlocked my phone to see a couple of text messages from Peyton, Tristan and my cousin.

Under those notifications, there was an instagram notification, I clicked on the notification and it took me to a dm on my private account. The only people who follow me on this account are my friends from both high school and university and some of my family members.

My eyes landed on the first unread dm, the name of the account was familiar to me. Low and behold the person who had dmed me was my ex-boyfriend Calvin Greyson.

@itscalvinlewis: Hey Aubree it's me, Calvin. If you are up for it, I would like to catch up.

The night before I went to sleep later than I usually do for the reason I had replied to his dm and we were discussing a place for us to catch up. At the end, we came to an agreement that he and I will be meeting at a Starbucks located near my mom's bookstore.

This is perfect for me because soon after I had graduated from high school I developed a routine. The routine is where I stop by Starbucks to buy drinks and snacks for myself, my mother and the employees that work at my mother's bookstore. Today, I will be killing two birds with one stone.

I would be lying if I said that I am not feeling nervous about meeting up with Calvin. I know it has been five years since I have seen him. The least I can do is meet up with him and listen to what he needs to say.

I pulled my phone out from my purse, while I walked out from my parent's house. I wanted to text my two best friends to let them know about my plans to meet up with Calvin.

I unlocked my car, I hopped inside of my car and connected my phone to the bluetooth. I put on my favorite playlist and started driving to the first destination of the day. About eight songs later, I was pulling into the parking lot of Starbucks and parked my car in an empty parking slot.

I turned off my car, taking a deep breath in before I gathered my things from the passenger's seat and then hopped down from my car. I placed my red purse over my shoulder while making my way towards the entrance of the Starbucks. Even before I was able to reach the door handle, a young woman opened the door from inside of the Starbucks. The same young woman looked at me, holding the door opened for me to walk in.

"Thank you! I hope you have a nice day." I thanked the young woman before I walked further into the coffee shop.

"Thank you! I hope you have an amazing day!" I heard the young woman replying from behind me.

Briefly, scanned the environment of the coffee shop searching to see if Calvin Greyson had arrived. My eyes stopped their search, focusing on him and there he was sitting down one of the tables near the back of the store. The first thing that I spotted of him was his familiar dark brown hair, an old memory of my hand going through his hair back when we were dating. I still remember how much I enjoyed feeling his sift hair underneath my hand.

I pushed the old memory out of my mind as my legs started moving towards Calvin like they had a mind of their own. He must have sensed my presence behind him, because I saw Calvin looking up from his phone in his hand as I approached the table.

This was the moment my ex boyfriend looked into my blue eyes as he stood up from one of the two chairs. "Aubree, hey good morning, thank you for agreeing to meet upwith me."
