🎙2022🎙

Annually at my high school there is a recital in which students from all the grades perform a musical number from a play to our family and friends. This year is going to be the last time that the seniors are going to be part of the recital. For that specific reason, I am going to reprise an old role from an old play that I was part of. I am going to be playing the role of Sophie from Mamma Mia for one last time

The faculty members give complete freedom to the students to come up with the costumes and the choreography but we are required to be under the supervision of our homeroom teacher. Today is the first practice of the recital, every practice is going to be happening on Fridays until the recital takes place three weeks from now.

I pushed the doors of the gym open, I walked inside and that's when I realized that some of my classmates had arrived but neither my boyfriend nor my three best friends weren't here. I sat down on the ground, setting down my gym bag and red bottle beside me.

"Aubree Rose hello, how is your day going?" Jessica asked me, sitting down next to me.

"Hi Jess, my day is going great so far. The classes have been a little bit boring. But I am excited to be practicing Sophie again after so long." I replied to Jess's question with a small smile on my face. "How is your day going, Jess?"

"The classes can be a little boring sometimes. That is perfectly normal. Aubree Rose, it's good to hear that you are having a great day, otherwise."  Jess told me, looking at me, returning my smile. "My day is going well so far, same as you."

"Jess, that is so true some school days are better than others. I am glad to hear that you are having a good day as well." I told her, keeping our conservation going as I heard the door of the gym being opened and closed behind me. "Are you excited to be doing Mamma Mia again?"

"Oh my god, I am super excited to be doing Mamma Mia again, the last time we did it was when we were starting our high school years and now are seniors. I can't wait for our families and friends to see the final product." Jess told me, looking over my shoulder probably seeing who had just walked in.

"I am sharing your excitement. It's going to be bittersweet doing Mamma Mia once again after so long." I told her, showing her a quick sad smile. "We are going to kill it like we always do every year."

"Aubree Rose, it's sad realizing this is going to be our last one." Jess told me, having a sad smile of her own in her face.

I looked at her, sharing her sadness even though I wasn't showing it on my facial features. "Jess yeah, I know how you are feeling. However, we should be glad to have gotten the opportunity of being part of an event like this. Not many students get to do an event like this. You know we should take a lot of pictures so we can look back at them once we are older and we can reminisce about all of the good memories we gained from high school."

I smiled at her, noticing how Jess's facial expression transformed from a sad one into a happy one. "I love that idea. Thank you Aubree, you always know what to say." Jess thanked me with a kind smile on her face.

"You're welcome Jess. I told her, returning her smile as Jess stood up from the ground and walked away from me due to the reason another cast name had called her name.

"Goodbye, Bree, I will text you later." My best friend said, giving me a hug.

"Bye Pey, I will be waiting for your text." I told her, hugging her back.

"Until tomorrow, Tristan." I told him, hugging him after my hug with Peyton was over.

"See you tomorrow, Bree." Tristan said, quickly hugging me back.

Both Peyton and Tristan looked at my boyfriend, Samuel and I. They showed us a quick wave before turning around and started heading in the direction of the parking lot. I smiled wide, staring at their silhouettes until they weren't longer visible.

I turned around and began walking to my third best friend, Samuel. "Goodbye, Samuel, I will see you tomorrow." I told him, still smiling wide.

In return, Samuel pulled me into a hug as he started to speak. "Goodbye, Bree, realistically if you look at the time, I will see you and Calvin in a few hours."

"You aren't wrong, Samuel." I commented, ending our hug.

Samuel nodded at me, walked right past me, heading towards my boyfriend. My boyfriend and Samuel high five each other and then walked away, disappearing into the parking lot.

"Are you ready to go, Sophie?" My boyfriend asked me, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.

I playfully rolled my eyes at the mention of my characters' name. "Sky, yes I am. I can't wait to have dinner with your family again."

"Okay, then let's go babe." Calvin said as we started making our way to my car in the parking lot. "Can I drive your car, this time?"

"Yes you may, Cal. I want to be the passenger's princess again so bad." I replied to his question, reaching my hand into my backpack to retrieve my car's keys. Once I had found them, I handed the keys to my boyfriends.

"Anything that my rose wishes, she will receive." My boyfriend told me, removing his arm from around my shoulders.

Instead, my boyfriend placed the car's keys in the back pocket of his jeans. He followed his movements by softly placing his hands on each side of my face and he closed the remaining gap with his lips on mine.
