chapter 17:Kai.

The wisest thing to do was stay away from the house till I get more information on Skye but I couldn't.
Skye was bad news and I couldn't leave Jake and Autumn in the care of no one. I knew they both did not like Skye but I couldn't help but worry.
I was in Autumn's room, watching a movie. I held her in my arms not wanting to let go. Maybe it was her laugh, or her eyes, or her smile, it could have been her hair, her voice or her personality but what ever it was it made me fall pretty damn hard.
Sirens were whining outside.
"Is that-" I cut her off
"Us"I nodded confirming her unasked question. And running down the stairs. I had no clue what was going on but I knew it involved Skye in some way.
Jake was standing outside, in handcuffs. He had not come home for the past 3 days. I had no idea what was going on with his but he looked tired. He looked so emotionally drained that even slept did not help him anymore.
Autumn gasped and ran to her brother, I on the other hand was rotted to the floor, why was he with the Cops.
"He his being help in our custody fora time being"the male officer said sounding exactly like those policemen in movies.
"Why?"Autumn asked speaking for the both of us.
"Was caught with an unauthorized gun, he may have to serve a year prison sentence or a bail with a criminal record."the police man spoke.
"I did not do it" Jake said shaking his head and looking me dead in the eyes."it's not mine"he was crying.
It wasn't him.
I was finally able to walk but I still couldn't speak. I walked into the Police car.
"Where are you going?"Autumn asked
"Someone has to settle this situation"I asked unable to face her. I could not bear the fact that the image of her perfect brother was ruined.

I was in the police station. It was small and suffocating.
"Kai" a female officer called me to the main office.
"Sir I believe you have been told the charges"a man with glasses who looked around 58 spoke.
"Yes"I said, it was the most fitting reply.
"So there are 2 ways to Handle this, a bail or he served" he said tilting his head slightly to look at me over his glasses. I turned to face Jake.
I knew he did not do it but I couldn't leave him in jail for a year plus if I bail his out he would have a criminal record, he can't be a doctor with that.
"A bail." I said
"Okay meet the woman who directed you here" he said dismissing both of us.
I payed the money and drove us home
"Explain"Autumn said to her brother.
"I did nothing, I walked into a supermarket and passed a scanner all of a sudden it starts blearing, I am dragged down to the floor being accused with a gun i did not know i had"jake said
I knew it had gotten bad when I looked at his and did not recognize who was looking back at me.
Autumn was about to lash at Jake again but I stepped in. I usually avoid getting into their arguments but I had to this time. My brother, best friend and only confidant was hurt and confused.
"Autumn go upstairs"I order,she was about to protest but she obeys
"Jake?"I say looking to the foreign person in front of me.
He puts his hands on the kitchen counter and bends his head. He was crying. I walk towards him and part I'm on the back
"My dreams are gone,no one would hire a criminal doctor"he sniffles i cant think of a reply i was never good with words.
"My life is ruined,Skye is back, my sister would not even look at me, she is all I have ever had, Kai."he said looking at me. I hug him.
"I know" I release the hug and ask "does Avery know?" He nods his head.
"She was my first call, she travelled but I still called her. I wanted her to know"
He needed her to know, it calmed him down.
