chapter 24: Kai

I hated that every time I looked at her all I could see was her mother,what ever her mom did didn't directly affect me but i knew it would soon.
Autumn was always worried about me since for the past 2 days I have been intoxicated,I am trying not to hurt her but in the process I think I am doing even more damage.
Right now she was holding my left hand whilst my right was on the steering wheel. We were going on a date, a date I promised her when I was still sane.
I could hear my phone ringing but I didn't bother to look,that's what I have been doing for the past few days , Autumn tapped my shoulder indicating that I should pick the phone.
I looked down to see who was calling and it was an unknown number. Usually I connected the phone to my car speaker so I didn't have to hold it but today was different. I let go of Autumn's hand then picked the phone.
"Kai" it was an old woman talking from the other end of the phone one who sounded oddly like Skye.
"Who is this?" I asked quietly so as to not draw suspicion.
"Is Autumn with you right now?"the croky voice asked dismissing my own question.
"You didn't answer my question who is this?"I asked once again and the lady ended the call.
If it was who I thought she was how did she get my number?
It seems like my worries were written on my face because after we arrived Autumn asked who called,I told her nobody and she dropped it as quickly as she picked it up.
After a few minutes walking around the park talking a group of girls were staring in our direction.i was not new to the who girl staring thing but don't they see the beautiful 5'6 girl beside me.
A particular girl with dark curls and hazel eyes was standing waiting for us to pass by.sge was about the same height as Autumn but had a little more meat on her bone,not enough for her to called fat.
As we got closer her friends pushed her in my direction making her crash into me.
"I am so sorry" she forged innocence. I have been in this situations enough for me to know is it's a lie or not but I played along.
"Don't worry about it. Are you good?" I asked knowing she was. I glanced at Autumn to make sure the also knew I did nothing wrong but all she saw was the girl in front of me.
"I just moved into this town and I wanted to see if I could get your number, only for directions and stuff"she asked
My eyes darted to were Autumn stood last but by the time they reached she was standing between me and the girl.
"He is cute isn't he?"she asked with fake niceness in her voice.
The girl looked into my eyes and nodded,I looked away.
"But he is mine"that was the first time she had said I am hers. I like seeing her being protective but it didn't need to last longer than it should.
"Let's be going"I took Autumn's hand and walked her away. I turned to see the girl still standing where we left her.
"And if you need directions use Google maps."I shouted as I waved calmly.
"That was cute"I teased Autumn.
She smiled."I am a frickin boss",she took up her arm then began flexing muscles that weren't there.
"Yup."I nodded looking at her amused.for the first time since I came back I looked at her without thinking of Skye.
My phone rang and it was the unknown number again.
"Who are you?"i asked myself as I ignored the call.
"What was that?"I guess Autumn heard me I shrugged.
"Nothing to worry about"I said trying to convince myself too.
