Chapter 8

ASHTON TURNED 21 YESTERDAY IM NOT OKAY

After we finished our food, we made our way back to the car. As we shuffled back into our seats, I couldnt stop thinking about what Luke had said.

Anytime, babe.

Why the fuck did that send butterflies through my stomach?

He called me babe, thats it. No big dealio.

But then of course, my stereotypical girl brain drifted away into the 'but it could mean something more' zone.

What if he likes me? Wait, who am i kidding, a guy like him would never like a girl like me. Im too plain, too big, too annoying, too much of a waste of space. But him. Him. He is... on another planet. A whole different league.

Dayum.

I wish he could like me. But he never could. He is way, way too good for someone like-

'Nova!' Michael shouted, snapping his fingers in front of my eyes. I blinked a few times. 'Have you even been listening to us?' Calum laughed. 'Oh, um.. Sorry, I was just thinking about... um.. how good that Nando's was' I said, ending the lie in a confident tone. 'Yeah sure' Luke laughed.

If only you knew, Luke. If only you knew.

'So what were you guys saying?' I asked. 'We were just saying that since we all got tickets for the Summer Music Festival in Sydney this year, we should get you one too! If you'd like' Ashton told me, looking between me in the rearview mirror and the road.

A/N ~ not sure if there is even a Summer Music Festival in Sydney, but in this book there is, so yasss :D

'That would be amazing! I love music festivals' I exclaimed. 'But I will pay for the ticket. You guys dont have to' I added. They all insisted they buy the ticket but eventually they gave up. I am a persuasive little thing. Its the Irish in me. Like Mrs. Doyle in Father Ted. AH GOWAN GOWAN GOWAN GOWAN GOWAN. No? Okay sorry.

'So how long is this festival?' I asked them. 'Three days', Michael said excitedly, 'and we've got passes for all three!' I smiled at his childish excitement. He was bouncing around in the seat beside me, chanting quietly to himself 'we-are-going-to-SSMF-we-are-going-to-SSMF'

We parked at the beach, and all of us leapt out of the car and sprinted for the sand. As we ran, the boys pulled off their tops, kicked off their shoes and socks, and pulled down their jeans, kicking them off too before grabbing all of the items of clothing and continuing to run. Yes, I said continuing. They did all that whilst running.

I, on the other hand, knew for a fact that if I even attempted all that I would have faceplanted the ground in the first two seconds. So, I just kept running, unil I was close to the waters edge. I stopped, and stared out at the sea. It was beautiful. I could see Michael, Ashton, and Calum splashing around a few metres away from me.

Where's Luke?

Well, that was answered by a voice behind me.

'You gonna dress down and get in or what?' he smirked at me.

'Maybe' I shot back, smiling slightly.

'Oh I get it' he suddenly started chuckling, as if he knew something.

'What?' I asked him, confused.

He looked down at me, and I looked back up at him, my major lack in height and his major gain in height forcing me to crane my neck.

As if he knew it annoyed me, he took one more step closer to me.
We were now so close I could feel his breath on my face and I could faintly hear his heartbeat.

'You're too scared' he smirked. I knew he was challenging me in some way, trying to see my reaction. So I gave him one I doubt he was expecting.

Stepping back a bit, I kept my eyes connected with his as I shook off my shoes and socks, unzipped my shorts and pushed them down, stepping out of them. I bent down and picked them up, grabbing his hand and dropping the shorts into his palm. Still keeping eye contact, I pulled my top over my head and dropped that into his palm too. I ruffled my hair so that it was swept back a bit from my face. 'Come on then' I smiled triumphantly, looking at him. His jaw was hanging down, any further and it would have been on the floor. I laughed before pulling my jewellery off and handing them to him too. I left him there to be gobsmacked, while I ran off into the water to splash around. 'AAAGHHHH!' the three other boys screamed as I swatted them with a wave of water. It led to a full on water fight. Luke joined in just as soon as he had put my clothes in the pile of boys clothes. We all messed around for a while, before trudging out of the water and getting the towels from the car trunk and laying them down on the sand. We all had a towel each so we just flopped out on them.

After what felt like hours of lying down under the beating sun, I decided I was bored, so I got up, rummaged through my bag, and grabbed my money. I turned to Ashton, when I realised that all four boys were asleep. I chuckled, before making my way to the newsagents across the road to grab myself a bottle of coke and a magazine.

Once I got over there, I bought my coke and a RockSound magazine. I crossed the empty road. It was quite around this part for some reason. Suddenly, as I am nearly across the road, a car pulls up on the curb in front of me. I ignored it and the driver, who was getting out pf the car, and continued on down the curb. That was until someone clasped a hand around my mouth and an arm around my waist, pulling me close to them. I tried to pull out of their grasp, but they were too strong.

Wait, what if it was one of the boys playing a trick on me?

I strained my neck to look over the railings of the sidewalk to see if any of the boys were missing from their towels on the sand.

Luke....

Calum....

Ashton ....

Michael.....

They were all there. Meaning it was a stranger.

SHIT!!!!!

I struggled in their grip. I tried to scream, but their hand over my mouth prevented me doing so. They pulled me back and shoved me into the backseat of the car I had passed just seconds ago.

They returned to their place behind the wheel. I reached out to grab the person, but a strong hand connected with my face before I could even reach the driver. I screamed in fear and in pain. 'SHUT UP!!!' the hooded figure next to me roared. I tried to contain my screams but I couldnt stop myself from crying and whimpering from the pain. 'Oh for fucks sake, you leave me no choice' the hooded figure said before ramming his fist into my face again.

The last thing I remember is the engine roaring to life and the car speeding off. After that I was drenched in darkness.
