Chapter 12

Novas P.O.V

It had been two weeks since Ashton and the boys had saved me. They had brought me straight back to Michaels, seeing as that was the only house that was empty from siblings or parents. They had taken great care of me. Except, I had redused to talk to any of them. I was terrified that he would come back, or that if I said anything to anyone he would know. So I havent said a word to anyone since the day the saved me. Ashton had brought me back to his house and explained that I had a sore throat and they were common for me and that i just shouldnt talk until it was completely gone. His mother reluctantly believed it. She is working a lot now so it isnt hard to fool her, I only see her in the evenings. I have stayed in my room and i havent left. Im too afraid to. The boys have tried endlessly everyday to get me to talk, but I just cant.

As always, I was lying on my bed, staring at the alarm clock ticking on my desk. It was only 11am. I heard a light knock on the door and it being pushed open slightly. 'Hey' a quiet voice said. I turned to see Luke standing there. I sat up slightly, resting on the headboard, curling my legs up and hugging them. Luke walked over slowly and sat on the edge of the bed. 'Look, Nova, its been two weeks and you havent said a word. Its worrying me- us, i mean. Please just talk to me. Dont say anything you dont want to, but just talk to me, please' he begged, looking in my eyes desparately. I hesitated, before nodding slightly. Relief washed over his face. 'Okay, if you want I can ask you questions, and you dont have to answer if you dont want to' he explained. I looked up at him, appreciating the fact that he was respecting my limits. I sat up more, crossed my legs and lifted my head up. I need to be strong, I cant live in silence. Im ready to talk, and go back to normal. 'Ask away' I said confidently, my voice very rough and scratchy though, after two weeks of no talking thats what I get I guess. 'Okay, umm, did he hit you?'
'Yes'
Anger flashed across his fave and his jaw tightened. 'How often and what damage did he do?'
'Well, he hit me a lot, i dont really know how often, luckily I wasnt there long, but my ribs, stomach, back and chest were and still are the most painful. They are still bruised.'
'Show me'
I looked at him in panic.
'No, please dont, please please dont hurt me!!'
Luke immediately grabbed my hands softly and smiled slightly at me. 'I would never evernhirt you. Ever. I just want to see the damage. But its ok. Im not gonna push you to do something you dont want to do.'
I thought for a second before pulling my top off, leaving me in my bra and sweatpants. I was covered from hip to shoulder in black, purple and blue bruises, all of which didnt seem to want to fade. Luke brushed his fingers over my ribs slightly, and although he barely touched me, I flinched away, nearly bucking up off the bed. 'Still hurts a bit' I laughed nervously. 'Sorry' Luke smiled, before his face adopted a frown. 'Did he...?' Luke began. It took me a second to realise what he was hinting at. 'No, no! He didnt dont worry' I assured him. 'Good, cos i really would have killed him then' Luke told me. I chuckled slightly, grateful for his protectiveness. I pulled my top back on and stood up, holding out a hand which he gladly took. 'Lets go meet the boys, I owe them an apology for not talking to them in so long' I said. 'You dont owe them anything' Luke told me. 'Well, let me at least thank them and hug the living daylights out of them' I laughed, dragging him down the stairs.

Three weeks later

Ashtons pov

It had been a while since the incident, and to be honest, we had kind of forgotten about it by now. Just taking Nova out a lot to keep her busy since she started talking again, to keep her mind off it. We havent really given the poor girl a second to think for herself, but she appreciates it. She told me the other night when we were hanging out

Flashback

The other boys had gone home, and it was just Nova and I. I had stretched my legs out across the coffee table, and slouched slightly, nearly in a lying position. Nova had stretched along the rest of the couch, her head resting on my stomach and her feet dangling over the edge of the couch. A very large popcorn box layed on Novas stomach, containing popcorn and a various range of sweets we had put in there too. Both of us were picking at the food occasionally, our eyes glued to the screen as Mike Wazowski sat at the dinnertable with Celia trying to sign language to Sulley that Boo had escaped from the bag. Dont know what movie it is? DISGRACEFUL. Kidding. It was Monsters Inc. Suddenly, Nova shifted and sat up, resting on her elbows to look at me. 'I just want to thank you for the past couple weeks. You guys have kept me busy all day every day and I know its so that I wont have time to think about what happened. Thank you. I appreciate that you do that. I really dont want to think about it. So thanks' Nova explained, giving me a shy smile. I pulled her in for a hug. She fell into the hug, her head landing on my chest softly and her arms wrapping around me as mine did the same. 'Your welcome' I whispered into her hair. We stayed that way for what felt like hours but was only minutes. She pulled back, snuggling her head into my neck as we continued to watch the movie, my arm still wrapped around her securely. She is my new sister, and slowly but surely becoming one of my new best friends, so I am going to protect her like I would if ot were Lauren or Harry. Nothing will happen to her as long as Im around.

Right?

Im sorry I havent updated!!! I dont want to make excuses but there has been a lot going on recently, but its all good now! I will try update more often:) SCHOOL IS BACK IN A WEEK NOOOOOOOOOOOO
