A few days later, Tim was helping Lucy hobble through her front door. "Ah, my home. My beautiful home! Look at my sofa. Doesn't it look pretty?" Lucy exclaimed, making Tim smile. She started walking towards it, plopping herself down and closing her eyes.
"You know your bed is literally through that door?" Tim said, pointing towards her bedroom.
Lucy shifts around, uncomfortable. "Y-Yeah, I know. I'm just... I'm here now, so I may as well embrace the couch life for a few days." She said, laughing nervously. Tim came and sat down next to her, forcing Lucy to lift her legs to the side causing her to grunt in pain. "What are you doing?" She asked whilst smiling.
"Keeping you company." Tim said, reclining.
"Tim Bradford, are you displaying signs of compassion? There must be an error in your hardware." Lucy teased, smirking.
Tim rolled his eyes. "Hey, I'm just worried you'll become too accustomed to the couch life, and need someone to bring you food and drink."
Lucy opened her mouth to reply, but before she can there is a knock at the door. She flinches so hard that Tim turned to look at her, concerned. "Lucy? What's wrong?" He said, watching her as her eyes darted around towards the door.
"Wh-What? N-Nothing. Just made myself jump. Silly me." She said, chuckling nervously. Tim narrowed his eyes, not fully believing her.
"Okay..." He got up to answer the door, Lucy getting into a defensive position on the sofa. He opened the door, making a mental note to have a long conversation with her about this later.
"Tim? What are you doing here?" Angela asked, smirking.
"Angela!" Tim said loudly enough so that Lucy knew everything was okay. "I'm... I was just helping Lucy. Her car was still here, so I took her home."
"Uh huh. Is Lucy here?" Angela asked, trying to peek in.
"Uh..." Tim stalled, looking at Lucy who nodded as she got up from the sofa and made her way over.
"Hey, Angela. I was just... What are you doing here?" Lucy asked, her eyes looking past Angela and into the hallway, seeing if anyone else was out there. Angela noticed and so did Tim.
"I just came to check on you, I didn't realise you already had company over." Angela said, smirking. Both Tim and Lucy rolled their eyes.
"Do you want to come in?" Lucy asked.
"That's okay, I just wanted to make sure you were okay. Are you?" Angela asked, her facial expression a lot more serious and concerned.
"Y-Yeah, why wouldn't I be? I've been through worse." Lucy said, but it wasn't very convincing. Tim and Angela shared a knowing glance with eachother; Lucy was far from okay, and her denial only proved that it was worse than they originally thought.
"Alright, well I'll get going. If you need anything, you let me know. The whole station will be here in a heartbeat if you need, okay?" Angela said, trying to reassure Lucy and remind her she wasn't alone.
Lucy nodded, smiling tightly. "Y-Yeah, thanks." With that, Angela left and it was back to just Lucy and Tim. They stood awkwardy in the doorway, unsure what to do. "So, what are you up to tonight?" Lucy asked.
"Making sure you're less freaked than you are now." Tim said simply.
Lucy scoffed. "What? I'm fine!"
"No, you're not. And that's okay. Lucy, I saw how nervous you were when someone knocked on the door. Is that why you won't sleep in your own bed? Because you're scared you won't be able to defend yourself in your room?" Tim asked, concerned.
"When you say it out loud, it sounds stupid." Lucy murmered, walking over to the kitchen and resting against the counters, head in her hands. Tim walked over, taking Lucy's hands in his own.
Since rescuing Lucy, Tim had started to realise just how deeply he cared for her - more than he cared for any other friend. Since being rescued by Tim, Lucy had started to realise just how deeply she cared for him - more than he cared for any other friend. The thought terrified them, neither wanting to screw up their friendship which had stood strong throughout many trials. So, in the days that had passed since Lucy had first been taken to the hospital, Tim and Lucy hung in a limbo, their relationship passing the point of friends but not quite reaching a romantic connection. However, their physical touch had dramatically increased, causing both parties to feel butterflies in their stomachs.
With her hands in Tim's she looked up at him, blushing slightly. Tim opened his mouth and closed it again, forgetting what he was going to say as he looked into Lucy's eyes. The air around them became thick with tension and a promise that they were about to cross a line they thought they might never cross. Tim took a step back, shaking his head. He didn't want to take advantage of Lucy when she was in such a delicate state. He started to remove his hands from Lucy's, but she held on, tightening the grip. He looked back up at her.
"Lucy..." He started, but Lucy shook her head.
"Please, Tim? I want this." Lucy murmered, her eyes drifting down to Tim's lips, Tim doing the same. As his eyes settled on her juicy lips, he took a step closer, closing the distance between them once and for all. His hands moved to Lucy's hips as he lowered his head to hers. Finally they made the fated connection, their mouths meeting cautiously as first as they waited for confirmation to continue. As soon as they felt ready, the kiss deepened, becoming much more passionate as they explored eachother as Lucy's fingers twisted in Tim's hair, Tim's fingers on Lucy's back as he pulled her as close to him as possible.
