*1 year later*
Lucy breathed in a shaky breath, looking at herself in the mirror. She pulled at her dress, her beautiful white wedding dress that hugged her waist just right before it flowed into a lacy, floral, ballgown-style skirt. The floral pattern continued up through the dress, the short, loose shoulder sleeves having detailed leaves and flowers too. Her hair was beautifully curled and pinned in a half-up, half-down style with gold pins with leaves thoughtfully placed in the small braid that ran across her head. She wore the small heart necklace that Tim had given to her on Valentine's Day around her neck, tying in the gold in her hair.
Lucy was deep in thought, reflecting on her hardships in life and appreciating how lucky she was that throughout it all, Tim Bradford had stood by her and now she got to marry him, when there was a knock at the door. It was Sergant Grey.
"Lucy, are you ready? The crowd is getting restless."
Lucy rolled her eyes. "You mean you're getting restless! But yes, I'm... I'm ready." Lucy turned around to face the door as Grey came in, his jaw dropping.
"Wow. You look beautiful, Lucy." Grey beamed, becoming emotional. Him and Lucy had grown closer, an almost father-daughter relationship created. Which was why Lucy had asked him to walk her down the aisle.
"Don't cry, or I will too and then I'll ruin my makeup!" Lucy said, laughing.
Grey laughed. "Yes, Ma'am. Ain't no one crying here." He held out his arm for Lucy to take, as they got ready to walk down the aisle where Lucy would be reunited with Tim. They had spent last night apart, but all Lucy could think about was Tim, and all Tim could think about was Lucy.
Soon, Lucy and Grey were walking down the aisle together, a plush red carpet under their feet to honour Lucy's heritage. In fact, many of the wedding decorations were red to subtley represent Lucy's Chinese roots. At the end of the aisle stood Tamara, her Maid of Honour, and Angela, Tim's Best Woman and, of course, Tim who hadn't turned around yet. As Lucy got closer to the end, the officiant signalled to Tim to turn around, and when he did his jaw dropped open, making Lucy beam and laugh. She also saw him try to discretely wipe away a couple of tears, so she made a mental note to tease him about that later.
Sergant Grey handed Lucy off and sat down, as Tim took Lucy's hands in his own.
"Hi." He whispered.
"Hi!" Lucy whispered back, feeling giddy and excited which made Tim chuckle. Soon, they had given their vows to eachother and placed their rings on eachother's fingers. Soon, they were walking down the aisle hand in hand, laughing and looking at each other with the promise of forever love in their eyes. Soon, they were partying with their friends, revelling in the fact that this was their day, and they would spend the rest of their lives together. Soon, they were in their hotel room, gently taking off their wedding attire before becoming more passionate and demanding with eachother.
So, I wasn't exactly sure how to finish this, but I knew I wanted to write about their wedding because I loved the headcannon that, even though Lucy didn't have a good relationship with her father, she had found something better with Sergant Grey and I loved the idea that he would walk Lucy down the aisle! I hope you enjoyed this story, let me know your thoughts!
