"For the first match of the third round, we have the ruthless explosion master... Katsuki Bakugo versus our beautiful banshee Izumi Aizawa!" Mic announced as we both stepped onto the platform.

I was actually kinda nervous. We stared at each other from either end of the arena. It was very nerve-wracking. I focused only on Mic's voice and on Bakugo.

"Begin!"

Bakugo rushed toward me, and I... ran away.

"She's running away?" I heard Mic say. Yes! I'm running away!

I suddenly turned around and slid between Bakugo's legs. I got up quickly. I leg swiled Bakugo while he was off balance. He blasted himself into the air, and I covered my face from the explosion. Um, ouch.

He blasted himself at me, and I moved out of the way at the last second. I grabbed his wrist and twisted it. I moved and flipped him over my body. That was hard to do while he was in mid-air. I got on top of him, and we started wrestling.

"Guys, this isn't a wrestling match." Mic said. Oh, shut up!

He slammed my back on the ground, making me wince. I squirmed under him.

"I win." He smirked, whispering in my ear. I took that chance to headbutt him. While he was distracted, I pushed him off of me.

He punched me in the face, making me stumble back. I reared back and started punching him repeatedly. He blocked most of them, but I got him a few times. We went back in forth for a while, never hesitating. Never stopping. I couldn't give him an opening to use his quirk.

My knuckles started bleeding at some point. I couldn't stop. I had to keep going through the pain. Bakugo created some distance from me. Was he bleeding, too?

I took that chance to catch my breath. I was sweating badly. I wiped blood from my nose. When did that happen? This wasn't going anywhere. I needed to go more on the offense than the defense.

I charged at him. He sighed and lifted his hand. Smoke came from his hand. Shit. Shit. Shit.

"Stay down!" He shouted before a giant explosion went off. My eyes widened. Oh shit.

Everything went black after that. I guess I passed out.

I felt a pounding in my head. A ringing in my ears. My whole body ached. I tried to open my eyes but I couldn't. They wouldn't let me. I could still hear everything.

"Tch... you're still not awake shitty woman? You missed the awards. You got third." I heard a familiar voice. I could hear his heartbeat. But... why is Bakugo here?

"I got first, obviously. I didn't win the way I wanted to. That icy hot bastard went easy on me. The others visited you earlier. Those idiots forgot to bring your metal, so I came." I heard metal clinking on wood next to me.

"Wake up already so I can rub my victory in your face." He grumbled before stomping out of the room. Everything hurt, but I smiled anyway. Thank you, Bakugo. I can't wait to rewatch the sports festival and watch you win.

When I finally woke up, the sky was dark, and the stars were out. Geez, I didn't think I'd be out for that long. I sat up. I looked around the empty room. I was home.

"Oh, you're awake." My dad said, walking into the room.

"Sorry..." I coughed. He handed me a cup of water. I downed the whole thing. He sat on my bed, running his fingers through my hair.

"You did good, kid." He said. I smiled.

"Thanks."

A few days later, class started up again. I guess they wanted to give us a small break. I had a scar on my knuckles. I busted them up badly in the fight with Bakugo. I like them, though. They give character.

I sat down in class. Rain was pouring down. I stared out the window as the rain ran down the window.

"Morning." My dad said, walking into the room.

"Good morning, Mr. Aizawa!" Everyone greeted. I yawned. I wasn't really paying attention. The rain was distracting, to say the least.

"You need codenames." My dad said, snapping me out of my trance. Today, we're doing hero names? Aw fuck. I don't know. Everyone cheered. Ugh.

"This is related to the pro hero draft picks that I mentioned the last time we were in class together. Normally, students don't have to worry about the draft yest. Not until their second or third year actually, but your class is different." He explained.

"In fact, by extending offers to first-years like you, pros are essentially investing in your potential. Any offers can be rescinded if their interest in you dies down before graduation, though." He said. I looked out the window again. This was starting to get boring. Intern blah blah.

"You'll have hell to pay later!" Midnight suddenly walked into the room. Huh?

"What you pick today could be your codename for life. You better be careful, or you'll be stuck with something utterly indecent." She said, standing next to my dad.

"Yeah. She's got a good point. Midnight is going to have final approval over your names. It's not my forte." He pulled out a sleeping bag. I got him that like two Christmases ago.

I stared at the whiteboard in front of me. What should my hero name be? Hm... I smiled and wrote something down.

"Your hero name should be hearing aid." Bakugo jeered. I smacked his head with my board.

"And yours should be asshat."

Different people went up and presented their hero names. Midnight accepted some and fixed others. I bit my lip. I guess I could go next.

I stepped up and showed Midnight my board. She stared at it for a while and smiled at me.

"I think it's lovely." She patted my head. I blushed and stood at the podium.

"I'm the Cheshire hero... Niri." I twirled a piece of my hair around my finger as I turned my board around.
