After lunch,

When I expected Emilia to close to be royalty, I expected perhaps a noble. But a candidate for the position of ruler?

Understandable.

Can't say it's really surprising. Roswaal, a noble's attitude towards her was my first indicator, and the gossip I heard in the streets about the lack of a ruler were enough to cover the dots. And the insignia...even royalty wouldn't rush after a trinket of that size unless it had greater purpose then intended. At the end of the day, through Roswaal's attitude I was able to bring forth these small pieces of information together to form a bigger picture. The bigger picture makes this world a lot more complex than originally intended.

This is interesting. I wonder what else I can do. In the meantime, Subaru has decided to work in the mansion, while I will simply continue in my training. The pressure points I simply needed to memorize, the moves I can create on my own, those don't require much effort. Which leaves me with the weapons training and the 8 Gates. The 8 gates I will save for last. So weapons it is.

Dual wielding and singularly wielding knives was going well, I had managed to get through a 10th of the content, which meant a year's worth of training. With my body's conditioning in this world, I didn't need to worry about my physical aspects, simply the intricacies of moves. Repeating a move thrice was enough to commit it to memory. All that was left was application.

My chained blades didn't have much content on them, and everything they had I had already covered. The shield I was planning on discarding soon, so I don't need to learn anything specific from that aspect. But, thanks to Subaru pissing Beatrice off on multiple occasions, I had managed to snag myself a few more books, that I had placed in my limitless pouch. Magic wasn't something I needed to learn, since Beatrice stated that there is no mana within my system. However, creating counters against magic users are always beneficial.

There were other perks to Roswaal being a great magic user as well, such as a book that served as a treasure map to sacred weapons. Someday perhaps, I may choose to go after these magically enhanced items, that are claimed to "surpass the most valuable of metias".

5 days later,

"It's been 5 days since Subaru came to this mansion." Roswaal said in his usual, stretchy tone. I carefully eavesdropped in from the room across the corridor, my senses honed enough to allow me to do so. In these 5 days, I had also learnt that a majority of the magic users are unable to sense me because of my absence of mana. That explains why I was able to steal so effortlessly, for most people I wasn't even there. "How has he been? By now, we should be seeing something."

Seeing something? As magical potential? Unlikely, he probably expects to use Subaru. But...Ah, I see. Spying on Emilia? It is an expected strategy, and quite understandable.

"Cooking, laundry, cleaning." Ram began. "He is useless at all of them."

"How strict of you..." Roswaal sighed. "And? What of his potential as a spy?"

"I cannot deny it exists, but I believe the possibility is slim." Ram answered. "For better or worse. Specifically for worse, he is too conspicuous."

"And if he is too conspicuous..." Roswaal left it open. "Despite that possibility, he certainly is carefree. As I personally see it, interfering would be wise."

It seems they have already eliminated me from their idea of being a spy. Must be my complete absence of mana. I wonder what comes next for me then-

An overwhelming sense of nausea affected me, as the world around me seemed to swirl and warp. I closed my eyes out of instinct, as I had many times before, and found myself sitting back on the bed, as I had before.
