Georgetown, Delaware

Jamari stared up at the ceiling reminiscing the last 18 years of his life. He has been through so much and it seemed like all the bad stuff was finally coming to an end.

Jamari was deep into his thoughts as he played back the memories he had with his parents.

"I can't do this shit. Why would you buy this big tv for the living room." Young Jamari spoke to his father Braxton as he helps him bring the 70 inch tv in the house.

"Stop that cussing in my house, but you're right I told that man we didn't need a bigger tv but he insisted." Ashanti, his mother said.

"Baby, it was on sale for $100 how can I pass that up. Now Jamari grabbed the side and turn it so it can slide through the door." Jamari huffed doing as told and they easily slid the tv inside the door then walked it over to the living room sitting it against the wall.

Jamari plopped down on the couch to catch his breath and relax after coming home from a long shift at his very first job.

"How was your first day at work baby?" His mother asked as she took a seat next to him on the couch with a glass of wine in her hand.

Jamari shook his head at the woman holding her third glass of wine for the day knowing it was only 3 in the afternoon, but he left it alone not wanting to hear an argument.

"It was good ma. I only was packing up grocery's but it's a cool little job for a 16 year old." The young man spoke as he shrugged his shoulders.

"Well at least you making your own money." Braxton added as he took a seat in his favorite recliner chair.

"Your right dad."

Braxton and Jamari looked over at Ashanti gulp down the glass of wine and mugged her in disbelief.

Jamari looked over at his dad noticing his body tense up and anger took over him. Braxton deciding not to say anything to avoid an argument he turned to his son to start another conversation.

"You wanna go ball up Mari?" His dad spoke as he stood up and headed down the hall to get the basketball from the closet.

The young boy nodded his head and stood up leaving his mother there to engulf in her actions knowing she would soon be knocked out from the wine.

The two of them walked outside to the big backyard that had a basketball hoop and a swing set from when Jamari was a baby.

"Are you ready for highschool boy. I can't believe how fast time flies." Braxton spoke as he passed the ball to his son.
