Tw: self harm, anxiety/depression expressed through metaphor, & suicidal ideation
last chapter: he fell asleep in the nurse's office.
------Izuku woke up in a cold sweat in the nurse's office, gasping for breath.
He blinked a couple of times, catching his breath. He wiped his forehead with the back of his hand and stood up out of bed, slipping his shoes on.
He looked for a clock to see how long he was out for and found that it was just before his training session with Shinso and Mr. Aizawa.
He rushed out of the room and sprinted down the hallway, suddenly excited to start training. To become a real hero.
This is what he'd dreamed of since he was a kid!!! He sped up, whizzing around people with a happy grin on his face.
Then WHAM.
"NO RUNNING IN THE HALLWAYS YOU NUTSACK FACE." Bakugo yelled, pushing him aggressively across the hallway and into a locker. His shoulder hit first and he felt a weird shift.
Someone came running over, "HEY!" Iida was in between them immediately, "just like running, fighting and instigating physical harm against other students is also against the rules, Bakugo. So stick to the rules yourself before you lecture others."
Bakugo hated the way that others stuck up for Midoriya, but backed off.
Iida quickly helped Izuku up off the floor that he'd fallen to after being shoved, "shoot, your shoulder-"
Izuku looked over, grabbed his arm, and popped his dislocated shoulder back into place.
Iida looked horrified.
Izuku looked up cluelessly and giggled at Iida's shocked face, "What?" He asked.
The other boy was frazzled, "wha- you should have gone to Recovery Girl!! Your shoulder was-"
"My shoulder is fine." Izuku said with a reassuring smile, "I've done this a million times, Im quirkless. This isn't the worst that's been done to me." Izuku shot a subtle glance at Bakugo, enough to imply that he hadn't forgotten about their history. Enough to force Bakugo to remember that no matter what he tried to spin, Izuku was in the right.
"I see. You probably got injured a lot as a vigilante." Iida reasoned.
Izuku nodded, "yeah. As a vigilante." He glanced at Bakugo again. This time he huffed and stormed off. Iida looked back, "I'm sorry about him. This is just the way he is."
Izuku smiled at Iida and decided to tease a little. To push Bakugo's buttons while he had witnesses. While he couldn't get hurt. "I know. I've known Kacchan since he was in diapers."
"Kacchan?"
Bakugo stopped in his tracks and slowly turned, fuming.
The look on his face made some of the bullying he'd experienced worth it.
"You keep that name OUT of your mouth!" He shouted, and then stormed off.
Izuku just laughed, turning to leave "I've got to go to training with Mr. Aizawa and Shinso. So I'll see y-"
"Wait. Wait Midoriya-" Iida said, grabbing his arm, careful to get the one he hasn't just popped back in place, "are you okay? What happened earlier?"
"I just-" Izuku hesitated, glancing at the way that Bakugo had gone, "I just wasn't feeling so great. The cafeteria was really overwhelming and stuff. I honestly don't want to talk about it. It was really embarrassing."
