11: mourning

After Midoriya and Todoroki were dropped off at the dorms and Aizawa ensured everything was going to be okay for the next few hours, Aizawa and Mic took right back off to see the police and hero public safety commission to give the information about the league's plans  Aizawa had learned while captive.

After a long elevator ride, Hawks was there to greet them at his office, the place where the statement was being taken. He has his own room at the end of a hall, but the inside was fairly plain. There were a few awards and certificates hung on the walls and a couple of personal items displayed on his desk, including an Endeavor plush. To the right of the desk was a large windowed wall with a glass door that lead to a balcony. Hawks generally flew up to his office instead of taking the long elevator up.

The winged hero welcomed them in and sat down behind his desk in the center of the room. Immediately he noticed that Aizawa looked worse for wear. Mic did too, but nowhere as badly as the underground hero. Poor guy may as well have been run over by a truck.

"Wow, Aizawa, you okay?" Hawks asked, opening the door and welcoming them inside. There were two seats in front of his desk for them.

"It's been a rough morning." Aizawa said gruffly. His had deep bags under his eyes and was incredibly spacy from the lack of not only sleep, but rest. Aizawa always had insomnia. He preferred many naps over a long night's sleep, it just worked better for him. The difference between now and before is that before he could rest. He could take those naps. When he could sleep it was effective.

Now, his sleep was infested with nightmares. He was always jumping awake, waking more exhausted than when he fell asleep. He couldn't sleep through the night, he couldn't nap, but because he was so tired, any kind of just sit down and relax rest turned into falling asleep, which turned into a nightmare. It was endless and miserable.

On top of the inability to rest, he'd added the burden of watching someone die this morning, of knowing that his student was really just putting up a brave face, that he wasn't really okay, but that Aizawa couldn't be there for him right now anyways. He had to be here to keep everyone safe. This was most important.

"Aizawa?" Hawks asked, waving his hand in front of the man's face.

He blinked back into reality, his tone flat, "what?"

"Lost you there for a second, are you sure you're okay? We can move this to another time.." Hawks said slowly, looking at Aizawa unsurely.

"No, no we need to act on this now." Aizawa said, "While I was there, the league was talking about their plans to kill All Might. They kidnapped Midoriya trying to lure him out, then kidnapped me  trying to lure him out... I think that's why they kidnapped me anyways. They didn't give me a straight answer, just beat me mostly. It seemed like they got kinda mixed up while I was captured, like their plans suddenly changed or something. They talked about making a ransom video for me, then never did and abandoned me in a burning building instead."

"Kill All Might?" Hawks asked seriously, his eyebrows twitching up in surprise.

"They're working directly with All for One. They've got a connection in with him somehow... Someone in on it." Aizawa said, his eyebrows furrowing as he tried to remember a profession or a name, but the concussion knocked out so much.

"A doctor of some kind." Mic spoke, "that's what you said when you were in the hospital."

Aizawa nodded, "yeah.. their goal is to do anything it takes to help him take over Japan. I think they wanted to kill All Might because he was the main thing that could stop him, but they are trying to get him out of prison. I think there's going to be a break in Tartarus soon, we need to get in contact with the prison as soon as possible and hope they don't have anyone working with them from the inside."
