Izuku ran into the inferno, his paper scrubs susceptible to the flying ember.

He continued running anyways.

He carried multiple patients to exits, people who were burnt too badly to walk by themselves.

Nurses tried to shoo him out, but he got them to exits instead.

He wasn't leaving the building until he knew there was no one left behind. There were younger kids here, some who might have hidden, passed out already.

He checked every single closet, every single storage cupboard. He was dizzy from the lack of oxygen. He'd tapped out fire on his scrubs multiple times.

He coughed as he ran down the last hallway on the third floor, checking every door. It was the smokiest here. So smoky he could barely breathe. Holding his thin shirt over his face was pointless, but he went on anyways, stumbling to the last closet.

He had to make sure.

He reached for the handle, burning his hand in the process. He wasn't even sure where the source of the fire was, but it was attacking the foundation and everything was boiling hot. Every once in a while he swore he cought a glimpse of blue flame as another fire erupted. The floor had been giving out behind him as the flames are away at the wooden boards.

It was a race against time.

He flung the door open and found someone bound and tied inside.

"Mr. Aizawa!?" Izuku shouted, the shock pulling more adrenaline out of him.

The man was unconscious. He was bloody, beaten, and had already passed out from smoke inhalation. He was covered in soot and blood. His mouth was taped over and he was blindfolded.

Izuku picked him up and turned to go back the way he came, but found that it was completely in flames and the floor was collapsing. He took Aizawa's scarf off of him and kicked through a window, immediately climbing out onto the ledge outside. The smoke came rushing out, making it nearly impossible to see.

He was surprised the glass hadnt already broken from the pressure change of the fire.

He had his teacher over one shoulder and the scarf in the other hand. He was balancing on the edge of the window, glancing around the smoke as much as he could for something to attach the scarf to so they could swing out.

He looked out and saw a tree, the top branches already engulfed in flames from being so close to another scorching part of the building. He threw the scarf out to the tree branch, but before he could make sure it was secure there was an explosion inside the building and Izuku and Aizawa were pushed off the third story.

All Izuku could do was hold on tight as they fell...

fell...

And then the scarf caught and they swung down just before the ground. The tree was quickly catching flame though.

Despite the consistent wheeze and the fact that his entire body was black with soot and fresh burns, Izuku got as far away from the building as he could. He hobbled through the blistered bottoms of his bare feet, tearing away blistered skin as he moved. He limped on despite the 3rd degree burns through the giant holes in his paper scrubs.

Once he got to the parking lot where all the nurses and residents were waiting he laid Aizawa down, listening for a breath. It was so small but it was there, wheezed as ever.
