As we make our way out of the room, my need to eat becoming urgent. I find Aiden waiting for me. A large plate of bacon, eggs, sausage and French toast filled on his plate.
He nods to Nathanial, Nate returning the gestures as he kisses my cheek. "I'm going to go check on training," I smile. I know Aiden wants to talk.
I start loading my plate right up, moving to sit next to him when I'm done. He smiles sadly as he looks at my neck. "My little girl is a mated Luna now" he shakes his head, "This all happened so fast" I nod in agreement. "We've got a long path ahead of us, though." I just want to know his staying. But I'm too scared to ask.
"I took the Beta position on a trial basis" he says, shoving a large spoonful of egg into his mouth. I squeel in excitement and throw my arms around his neck.
"You're staying?!" Happiness exploding from me. Aiden nods "Tristan and I spoke a bit before and he made me realise my decision to leave was not in mine or your best interest, he reminded me I'm not a prisoner and I can leave if this doesn't work, his a good man that one" I nod filled with agreement.
"I'm sorry, Armina," he says sadly; "for what?" I ask confused, "I was ready to leave this morning, too scared to say goodbye to you, it was gutless", I punch his leg gently, "takes guts to tell me that, you know I can kick you ass" I laugh.
"I know this is a hard choice for you Aiden, you'll get no guilt from me" thank goodness for Tristan. There doesn't seem to be anything he can't do.
"Hey, what's going on with your marks?" Aiden asks, "their beautiful aren't they?" I smile.
Aiden looks concerned, "One looks faded" I touch my neck, I quickly head to the mirror on the wall and nearly faint.
His right.
Tristan's mark is clear as day, a wolf & a moon symbol surrounding the teeth marks.
Nathanial's is faded, half of a wolf surrounding a healing bite. Something isn't right.
Panic sets in. I turn back to Aiden. "Have you ever heard of anything like this happening before?" Aiden shakes his head.
Concern is all over his face as I stare in the mirror. Tristan's mark stands in stark contrast to the faded mark that is Nates.
'What's happening, Aurora?' I beg. She whimpers in the mind. She's confused, too.
"I hate to add worries to you, my girl, but we need to discuss our roles here" Aiden interrupts.
Luna and Beta to the feared Eclipse pack. With today being the day we face the people who ripped our pack apart. Warriors involved would still be members here. Yet are they to blame for following orders?
Defying your Alpha's orders in punishable my death. These men may have disagreed but been bound by their oaths. We need to work out who enjoyed this path & who followed out of obligation.
"What's up first?" I look to Aiden, knowing he knows the inner workings of a pack better than I ever will.
"We need to get to know their elite warriors first, weed out the decent from the cruel" he says darkly, "then we work our way down, finding those who will stand by the pack in the wars to come, and those that will betray the new order" I nod. His words make sense.
The sound of foot steps interrupts our conversation as Tristan enters the room. He nods to Aiden, who returns the gesture. Moments later, Nate enters the room and simply walks to my side. Kissing my check before looking to Aiden.
"Hope we're not interrupting" he states. "The pack is restless to meet their new Luna" he smiles. Nerves rock through my body. Luna. A word I never thought would be me.
"Also their Beta" Tristan says darkly shooting Nate a dark look. The vibe between my mates is not their normal bond. Something has happened, I don't know about. I sense the tension from Tristan while Nate is cool, only a sense of love and lust. Which I find odd considering the situation.
Ignoring this, I look to Aiden, his eyes are darting between my two mates.
"Let's get this over with" Aiden states.
"Time to meet our pack" I agree as we move to each other and link hands.
Whatever comes, I have my father by my side. The thought of tracking down my biological father put on the back burner for now.
"Together," I add as Aiden smiles. Tristan quickly adds, "Together," he smiles. His hand tapping Aiden's shoulder as I see a look of anger cross Nate's face. Surely, I've imagined it as I sense nothing negative coming from him.
"We've got this" I add, pretending to have confidence I don't feel.
It's time.
