Nate is apologetic.
I go along with him, barely able to focus on what he did. The days blur as more wolves arrive.
We've cuddled and kissed but I find myself struggling to be intimate with him. The thought of his lips on hers plaguing my thoughts whenever he touches me. I feel his love when he professes it. But something still plays on my mind.
He shows understanding. Constantly apologising for not recognising the mixture. Unanswered questions plague me about the mark fading. If it was a one off how was my mark affected? Why did I feel the disconnect before?
I try to move past it. Reaching for his hand as we walk.
"When this is over, we need a real date" I smile, watching his eyes light up as we walk together hand in hand back towards home. "We need more than one, we've skipped so many steps, steps I want to go back and make right" I smile. His words perfect.
Shayne has had me showing my abilities. Proving I am who I say to bring more to our cause. I'm still working out what I can do. I am becoming stronger at moving things, gusts of strong winds becoming easier to summon and control.
I can lift myself off the ground. It's balancing and landing that's a problem. I don't do this in front of others. Not wanting to embarrass myself as I fall spectacularly on my ass.
My ability to sense emotions and sometimes hear clear thoughts is also increasing. But it all comes with a cost. My body and mind drained at the end of each day.
The thought of these women being involved, coming for my mates plays on my mind. I've just found them yet everyone wants them taken away from me.
The lycans have sent more messages. Each one ending in a threat. That we will fall if I don't surrender. They offer different 'acceptable' mates for me to take on. Lycans and wolves loyal to their cause.
We've heard reports they are busy bringing more warriors to their cause. The reason they haven't attacked sooner is they know we will fight back. They want to make sure they will win. They aren't used to wolves standing up for themselves and fighting back. We have so many strong warriors, all backed by me. Their precious destiny wolf that scares them.
They thought more wolves would give in to them. That we'd be an easy target. They were wrong.
The lycans have killed many wolves in their time. Sometimes for reasons unworthy of such punishment.
These packs remember. They've wanted to fight back. Now we have cause and numbers.
The Eclipse pack lands are full. Neighbouring packs offering their land up as much as they can to accommodate the growing numbers.
I try helping with weeding out traitors. I've found several who were working for the lycans. Posing as supporters. We've decided not to execute anyone in these times. We don't want people seeing us as hard as the lycans. Instead putting them in the dungeons with guards. Pending trial when this mess is over.
It's been a day. 162 wolves arrived from the eastern parts of the country. Coming from 3 different packs. All warriors coming to pledge to the cause of taking down the lycans.
I feel the alphas desire towards me as he pledges his allegiance. I stand close to Nate to make my status clear each time. Alphas all want nothing more than to be the strongest. It's in their DNA, my power makes me the most desired Luna possible.
Tristan has been out all day at the local packs. Helping settle our guests and keeping the peace.
So many alphas in one area makes for alot of testetorone. Small slights can become wars if it's not monitored. No infighting can happen if we are to win this.
As we make our way to my room I drop onto the bed in a heap.
Nate follows pulling me into his arms as I rest my head on his chest. Content.
I'm glad I'm giving him another chance. His hands gently play with my hair as I find myself drifting off easily.
When I wake I am alone. A note on the pillow from Nate explaining he was needed at training.
Stretching out I find myself well rested. Ready.
As I leave the room I find Shayne on the stair well. A serious look on his face.
"I was coming to find you, we have a problem" anxiety fills me instantly. I push it aside.
"We caught a Lycan scout. Tristan has him in the dungeons but he says he will only speak with you" I nod; butterflies filling my body. I miss him so much.
"Isn't this a good thing?" I ask confused. A sense of dread fills me as Shayne's eyes stare down at his feet.
"I'm so sorry baby; they have Aiden"
