Tristan is quiet as we walk back towards the pack house. I leave him in his thoughts. Knowing how hard this is for him.
Serena.
My previous pack continues to haunt me. They can't just let me move on and be happy. Like the years of bullying weren't enough.Sarah was weak. A wolf in love. My question is how Serena knew who to approach. Who to target. She has someone on the inside here. Someone is helping her try to destroy me.
We need to find out who. The threat of the lycans is still strong. We don't know when they are going to attack.
We can't have our own pack working against us while we also need to face them.
As we walk Aiden mind links me. 'We need to talk' His voice serious. 'Can it wait?' I ask, 'Not really. We are finishing up here, then need to get cleaned up. One hour, main room. Bring Tristan & Nate' I look up to Tristan.
"Aiden & Shayne need to talk to us in an hour, they've got news" Tristan nods.
We walk silently up to our room.
Tristan's silence is killing me.
"I'm sorry" I say softly. Tristan looks at me quickly.
"What are you sorry about?" He asks shocked, his hand reaches for my cheek. Rubbing it gently. Desire sparks, I try to push it down. Now isn't the time.
"I don't want you to fight your brother because of me" I say softly.
He kisses my lips gently. His eyes filled with love. "He hurt you" he says simply. "I can't let anyone hurt you, you are everything to me" he says softly, his hand still caressing my cheek.
I kiss him again. This time harder. My love for him growing by the second.
The moment we stop kissing I miss his lips.
"I love you Tristan" I say softly, he smiles. Placing his cheek against mine as he pulls me to hug him.
"I love you Armina. More than anything" he looks back into my eyes. "What you chose to do about Nate is your choice. If you forgive him, I'll try to as well. If you can't, I'll stand by you" I smile.
"I can't believe I almost lost you" I say with wonder, "I can't imagine my life without you, yet I almost threw it away over one mistake" I realise I can't do the same to Nate. It will be hard but he deserves a second chance too.
"Forgiveness" Tristan says, following my train of thought. I nod.
We need to go meet Aiden and Shayne soon. I mindlink Nate. 'Can you come meet us' he responds instantly 'On my way', I lean up to kiss Tristan again. The spark spreading through my body as our tounges meet. I want nothing more than to stay in this room. Forget about the drama incoming.
Tristan must feel the same as he pulls away with a groan. "We have to go" he states. I nod.
As I go to walk towards the door he slaps my ass. "But once this is done, I need some major physical therapy after today" he laughs. "You and me both" I smile.
When we reach the common room Aiden, Shayne and Nate are waiting. Aiden is tense. His whole demeanour stressed and tired.
"They are attacking in 3 days, sundown. They've recruited a few packs and around 200 lycans. They have an offer. If it's denied, they intend to wipe us out" Shayne explains. Tone all business.
"I have around 1,000 wolves who can make it by that time. We have around 1,000 worthy fighters between Eclipse and Blood Moon. We can take them, with losses" he continues.
"What's the offer?" I ask, knowing alot of death will come with that many lycans. "You reject your mates and agree to accept the lycan prince, Jarrod" Tristan growls, Nate following.
"That's not happening" Tristan growls again. "They want war, I'll rip them apart" Shayne smiles, Aiden looking to me.
I won't reject my mates. It's too high of a price.
"We need to evacuate all women, pups and men who don't want to fight" I order. "I won't force anyone to die for me" I say sadly. Feeling guilty as the words come out.
Aiden smiles. "I was concerned your caring nature would control you. I agree completely. They would use your power to control all wolves" Aiden adds. Shayne nods, "I knew you wouldn't, no one with your mother's genes backs down from a fight" he smiles. I take the compliment. Still sad at what is to come.
"You know this will mean division of the species? A war between wolves and Lycans?" I nod. The severity not lost on me. Lycans were stronger. They also had some of the wolf packs on their side.
I need to learn more about my powers. Now. I need to be ready to fight.
"We will get through this" Tristan reassures me as I lean my head on his shoulder.
Maybe.
But the odds say not all of us will.
