Selin's POV
Humans. Creatures from another world, devoid of magic, yet capable of creating wonders like clocks. Over three centuries ago, our world made first contact with one of them. A woman. Though she committed no evil herself, she became the catalyst for the Great War; a conflict that claimed countless lives, erased kingdoms, and rivaled even the devastation of the Dark Ages.
When it ended, she vanished. Many blamed her for the destruction. I never did. The stories were inconsistent, filled with gaps and contradictions. And I refused to judge without knowing the full truth. I had long since abandoned any hope of learning more about humans. There had been no sightings for centuries.
So imagine my shock when I found them. The day had begun like any other, routine duties, a report to the king. But I was soon sent to investigate disappearances near the Butterfly Forest.
That’s when I felt it. A presence. Darker. Stronger than any nightmare I had encountered before.
I arrived just in time and killed the thing, though part of it remained. But that wasn’t what mattered. The blood was. Dark red, pooling across the ground. And at its center....two gravely injured boys.
Humans.
They acted like ordinary teenagers. Even before Severed confirmed it, I could tell they held no ill intent. Despite my curiosity, I knew their existence here was dangerous. For them… and for us. Which is why I reported everything to the king, who wished to meet them. Therefore, I must make them presentable.
........Aaaaaand I see smoke coming out of the estate. (Sigh), typical.
3RD POV
Selin looked calm, almost apathetic, as always. But her eyes betrayed her. Beneath that steady mask, a faint anger flickered. Hunter and Zana knelt before her, heads bowed, trembling. Both had sizable bumps on their heads, clear consequences of their carelessness.
Selin: - Three things. I gave you three simple rules. No dead bodies. No fighting. No burning the estate.
A pause.
Selin: - And you managed to break two…..in less than two hours.
Hunter was shaken to his core. Back in the human world, no one spoke to him like this. Teachers avoided confrontation, classmates kept their distance, and adults ignored his behavior entirely. His family’s wealth had always shielded him from all consequences.
But here?
It meant nothing. Now he knelt before a woman whose gaze alone felt like a blade at his throat. Rage bubbled inside him at the humiliation, but it was drowned out by something far stronger.
Fear.
He couldn’t move. Couldn’t speak. Couldn’t even lift his head. He was completely at her mercy. Nicholas slowly began inching backward, as quietly as he could....Selin turned her head.
Nicholas: - I-I TRIED TO STOP THEM!!
He froze, trembling, bracing for impact…but it never came. Selin simply sighed and walked past him toward the ruined furniture. Burned tables reduced to ash. Broken glass scattered across the stone floor.
Selin: - I’m too tired for this.
She rubbed her temples, then whistled sharply. A moment later, the door burst open. Kenju entered, holding two cups of coffee.
Kenju: - Captain.
Selin: - Kenju.
Selin grabbed one and took a sip, already uninterested. Meanwhile, Kenju picked up a broom and got to work..In less than a minute, the entire mess was gone; ash swept, glass cleared, furniture gathered.
Nicholas and Hunter stared, stunned. For someone who looked so sloppy, Kenju moved with absurd efficiency. He stuffed the remains into a large bag and dragged it toward the door....only for it to get stuck.
