Ev POV

I couldn't help but smile when I saw those beautiful green lines on a steep incline. I turned in my desk chair to look out at Wall Street. I loved it there. The tall buildings that could touch the sky. The fast pace of the people. Lawyers, Bankers, Investors, and Traders, like me. I sighed happily and watched the people move down below. I never learned how to play chess, but this was probably what it felt like. To be a master of the game pieces. To be able to predict the next five moves and make it so your king wins. I was snapped out of my euphoria by a knock on my door.

"Your prediction was right Green!" The top trader in my team, my number two, and close friend, Kruz said. Kruz was normal height for our age and had fluffy platinum blonde. He had a smile that made everyone around him want to smile too. Today he was wearing dark blue jeans and a light orange dress shirt.

"How much per stock?" I asked, resettling at my desk with its three screens.

"It's almost $20 and rising. At this rate it should hit a little over $25 by the time the markets close"

As he finished, he grinned, and I couldn't help but shine that infectious smile right back. Normally this would be good, but in this case it was great. It was great because I bought almost 9,000 stocks. ⅓ for the company and the rest was mine. The total would come up to $180,000 at least and $225,000 at the most. Even with taxes, my cut would be ⅔ of that so either way, I'm going to be taking home a lot of money.

"What are you going to do with it? It is a lot of money and if I know you, you have a few ideas in mind," Kruz observed. He wasn't wrong. I had a couple ideas floating around on how to spend my profits. I could go to the Bahamas, or Italy, buy a house for my parents, or buy a new apartment for myself. The options were endless.

"I don't know yet. Something that I couldn't normally get. Something..." I trailed off.

"Like an exotic bird?" Kruz guessed.

"No man, something new or exciting. I'm getting bored," I sighed as I leaned my head back and reclined in my chair.

"No Green, you, are getting good. You've only been here for 5 years," He explained and sat in the black leather chair on the opposite side of my desk. "You either have commitment issues or you have some form of ADHD. Maybe both."

"Stop psychoanalyzing me!" I groaned and stood up. Before Kruz started to study to be a Trader, he was a psych major. His parents wanted him to do it, but he never really enjoyed it. When he had to take a mandatory finance course halfway through the year he saw that he actually enjoyed the quick pace of the trading world. He still picked up a few techniques from his psychology class that he used on me way too much.

"I need to do something new! Something out of the ordinary! Something, something like..." I began.

"Something like buying a football team?" Kruz interrupted.

"What?"

"A major stock owner is selling all of his football stock. He got caught up in some legal troubles with the SEC and is kind of low on funds. He's selling his stock for way less than it's worth just to add pennies and nickels to the court funds. With the money you just got, plus a little from your own savings, you could buy his stock," Kruz explained looking at the details on his phone. That was another thing Kruz and I bonded over. I played offense from elementary to high school and he played until college. His dad was the coach of the Ravens for a few years before he retired, but it didn't stop Kruz from loving the game.

"What team?" I asked and looked over his screen.
"The Giants. They're actually turning around this season. Got a new young coach that's supposed to take them all the way to the Bowl." Kruz continued and showed me the screen. It didn't have much info on the deal other than that it was happening, and the seller was Mike Ramos.

"My dad used to know Ramos back in the day. He's been in football just about as long as my dad, maybe even longer. If he puts in a good word, that team's as good as yours." Kruz informed me with a smiled. This may have been my purchase, but he was just as excited about this as I was, and I was pretty excited.

"Ask your Dad. I think I'm going to own a football team." I smiled again. But this time it was completely self-inspired. I may not play anymore, but this is still my game.
