Third POV
It was Thursday after school. The two were hanging out at Ev's house. They were lying on Ev's bed. Drew was lying with his head across Ev's legs.
"Did anyone ask you to the dance tomorrow?" Ev asked. He was scrolling on his phone pretending like the answer didn't matter.
"Did anyone ask you?" Drew questioned back looking up from his device at Ev.
"Avoiding the question?" Ev raised an eyebrow, maintaining eye contact. Drew looked away, with an expression that Ev couldn't figure out.
"What's wrong? Who asked you?" Ev asked again.
"It's not who. It's how many," Drew sighed. Ev didn't say anything, and Drew sighed again. "In person, six. Five more Snapped me about going together. How many asked you?"
"Five in person and three on Snap," he answered.
"Is this how all the dances are going to go? Girl's asking to go with us, and us saying no and going by ourselves being miserable?" Drew wondered. Ev moved his legs to sit crisscross.
"It doesn't have to be..." he trailed off. Drew looked at him with a skeptical expression.
"You think telling all of Central Valley High that I'm bisexual and you're my boyfriend, is a good idea?" Drew queried.
"I mean, do you really like dating in secret?" Ev doubted. Drew sat up and swung his legs on the side of the bed, needing something to distract him from what he had to tell Ev.
"Well no, but this isn't some musical where we come out and are showered with rainbow confetti and people start cheering. We do that, and the credits don't roll around. We couldn't make things go back to how they are now. It isn't perfect, but it's better than the outcome of everyone hating us, isn't it?" Drew reasoned.
"Is that really how you feel?" Ev stared at him with disbelief.
"I guess it is," Drew whispered.
"Okay," Ev replied, going back on his phone with a fake nonchalance that Drew saw right through.
"I get that it's not ideal, but I don't know what to do," Drew comforted.
"No, I get it," Ev said brazenly, "Dating me in secret is fine but in front of the rest of the school? No way,"
"I didn't mean it like that," Drew started but was cut off by his phone. His mom had texted him that she was in the driveway. He tried to close the message before Ev could get a look, but he had already seen.
"You should go. Don't want to keep your mom waiting," he told Drew. Drew took a slow breath and stood.
"See you at school?" He said with hope for a smile or some sign that it was going to be okay.
"Yeah," Ev stated sharply. Seeing that they would get nowhere that night, Drew grabbed his backpack and headed to the car. As he slid into the backseat of his mom's car staring out the window at the house, he couldn't help thinking of all the things he said wrong.
"What's wrong Drew?" Drew's mom questioned him. Drew looked up and saw his mom studying him through the review mirror. She may not have known about him and Ev, but she could still tell when he was upset about something.
"Nothing," he sighed.
"Want to talk about it?" She asked despite his answer. Drew just shook his head in response.
"Well, whatever it is, remember honesty is the best policy. And to see both sides of the story," She advised him. They pulled off with Drew still staring at the house.

-Third POV-
The next day came too fast. Or too slow? Ev couldn't tell. He was looking at himself in the bathroom mirror. It was evening time, and the dance was in a half hour. The theme was Tropical Luau, and he was dressed in a button up Hawaiian shirt where half was black and the other half white. The white half had black flowers and vice versa. The pants being shorts and the exact same as the top. With a silver chain to complete the look. Do I even want to go to this thing anymore? He thought somehow startling himself with the sudden suggestion. He didn't accept any offers from girls to go as dates, but he didn't stop them either.
For more context, school was...tense. To say the least. Were they out right not speaking to each other, no, but everyone could tell that something was going on. Ev was blunt at best towards Drew, and Drew kept shooting apologetic looks at him, but no one knew why. Neither of them were talking about it of course but the snippets of convo they had reached the ears of their friends.
By lunch, people assumed it was about a girl. Did it have to do with a relationship, yes, but other than that, they were pretty much way off.
The guys were all "bros before ho*s" but the girls wanted to figure out who it was. Ev was purposefully not looking at Drew and it was very clear. They weren't talking to each other, and since everyone only wanted to talk about the drama which included the other, they didn't talk much during the break. Eventually the girls in Drew and Ev's shared friend group figured out that it wasn't any of them, so they assumed that the girl was from another school. Which led to teasing about the unlikeliness of them both liking the same girl, which they were right it was unlikely. Which is why it didn't happen.
The minute school was over, unlike himself, Ev got right on the bus. He didn't talk to anyone and pulled his headphones over his ears, blasting sound into his head. Anyone that he did talk to (who was mainly Drew) would not give up, even more than the usual persistence. Ev just ignored whoever tried to make conversation and turned up his headphones to max volume to drown out their voice.
But that's how he got there, staring at himself in the mirror. His eyes gliding over himself in his Yin and Yang themed outfit. He didn't look too bad, Ev thought. He looked great actually. The outfit that he was wearing coincided with Drew's. Even though they weren't a couple in everyone else's eyes, this was their way of still wearing coordinating outfits. Ev may not have been speaking to Drew, but they were still a couple. He just wondered how long they would be one if they didn't fix this.
Hi. Did this chapter already post? Yes, you're not seeing things. Did it have more than a few mistakes? Also yes. I wanted to edit it even though it was already posted, and I will be doing the same thing to part two. Sorry if you thought this was a new chapter! Another 12 YITF will be coming out on schedule and will be edited! (I swear)! Take care - Valerie
