In a 1BHK Flat, BANDRA - Mumbai

"देवश्री! देवश्री उठ अगं वाजलेत बघ किती ते. महाविद्यालयात पोहोचायला उशीर होईल तुला." A middle aged woman shook the sleeping figure lying on the couch carelessly.

[Translation: Devashree! Devashree wake up and have a glance at the clock. You'll be getting late for your college.]

"Hmm". Devashree hummed pressing her plush piIIow against her face before drifting off to sleep again.

"तेवीस वर्षांची घोडी झालीस तरी अजुन लवकर उठायची शिस्त म्हणून नाही या मुलीला. काही नाही वडिलांच्या लाडाचे परिणाम आहेत सगळे." Her mother yelled before snatching away the blanket which was earlier covering the sleeping figure.

[Translation: Being a 23 year old girl she doesn't even have the discipline to get up early in the morning. It's all because of her dad's pampering.]

"काय झालं माझ्या चाफ्याला? आज सकाळी सकाळी का बरं कोमेजलेला आहे?" Her father came out of nowhere and asked her mother.

[Translation: What happened to my चाफा (a flower)? Why is your mood off early in the morning?]

"इश्श! काहीतरीच काय हो? समोर आपली मुलगी असताना काय हा चावटपणा तुमचा? आणि माझ्या नाराजीचे कारणही तुमची लाडकी लेकच आहे. किती वाजले बघा तरी कार्टी अजून लोळत पडलीये." Her mother replied.

[Translation: What are you even saying? Have some shame our daughter is right in front of us. (Now here she said so because her husband has kept her nickname as चाफा and whenever he calls her using that nickname she blushes.) And the reason behind my displeasure is your beloved daughter who hasn't gotten up yet and is lying lazily on the couch.]

"एवढ्या लहान वयात किती कष्ट करते माझी मुलगी. दमली असेल बिचारी झोपू दे अजून काही वेळ तिला." Her father said.

[Translation: Even at such a young age, my daughter works really hard. She must've been tired, let her sleep for some more time.]

"तुम्हाला आणि तुमच्या मुलीला दोघांनाही सांगून काहीच उपयोग नाही. नंतर तुमची लेक 'आई मला उठवलस का नाही.' असं म्हणत आली ना तर तुमच्या दोघांचीही काही खैर नाही. Her mother glared at both of them before walking away.

[Translation: It's useless to say anything to both of you. If I hear your daughter saying 'Mom, why didn't you wake me up?' then I swear it won't be good for both of you.]

Her father bursted out laughing before saying, "उठ श्री, मला माहितीये तु झोपली नाही आहेस ते."

[Translation: Wake up Shree, I know you are not asleep.]

She removed her blanket away before whining, "बाबा तुम्हाला कसं कळतं हो सगळं?"
