Javier's Pov

I woke up to a reeling sensation in my head, It felt like I'd been asleep for a really long time. Opening my eyes properly, I could see that I'm in my bedroom.

I was trying to sit up when I saw Penelope sitting in the arm chair close to my bed,  her head tilted to the side as she's fast asleep.

Why is she here like this?

I glanced around, there doesn't seem to be any sign of Daniella around.

How could she let Penelope sleep like this? It could give her a neck pain by morning. Why is she even here?

I gently rubbed at her knee in an attempt to wake her up, and it worked. She rubbed her sleepy eyes and yawned. She paused for a moment when her eyes met mine. It's like she hasn't slept in days.

“Oh, Javier.” She uttered, her eyes filled with relief as she stood up and hugged me.

“Come on Lopé, why are you being so dramatic now?” I said over the hug.

“You're right.” She said and then pulled out of the hug. She slapped me really hard across the face, giving me a shock.

“What are that for?” I asked with a pout while I held my chin.

“How dare you hide such a thing from me?” She asked. Her soft warm eyes, turning red in anguish.

“What are you talking about?” I asked, totally confused about what she's saying.

“How could you hide the state of your health from me? How could you?!” She half yelled.

She knows about my tumor? How did she..

“Answer me!”

“I'm sorry. I was waiting for the right time to do so.” I said, not wanting to meet her gaze.

It pains me that I hid something this important from her for so many years.

“For how long have you been battling with this?”

“It's been years now..”

“..so you've been battling with this for years and you couldn't bring yourself to tell me?” She said in disbelief.

“I was waiting for the right time..”

“..and just when did you think was that right time exactly? When you're dead and then you drop a letter telling me how sorry you are for not having the courage to tell me?” She half yelled.

To be honest, that was what I was really planning to do…so I really don't know how to reply to her.

“You are unbelievable! How could you be this cruel?” She said, sobbing right now.

I looked at her, my heart broke to pieces just looking at the sadness in her eyes. This is why I didn't want to tell her. I made to touch her, but she slapped my hand away.

“I don't want to talk to you right now.” She said as she stood up and made her way towards the door.

“Nanny Lopé wait!” I tried calling out to her, but she opened the door and at the same time Juan was walking in.

She ignored him and left. I sighed. Juan wore a long face as he sat in the chair Penelope was just sittling on.

“What happened? Why's Penelope crying like that?” Juan asked.
