The vase vanished into thin air. I could hear my heart thumping loudly as the tall shadow man approached. I took a step back, feeling a chill run down my spine. The man towered over me, his black, darkened eyes fixated on mine.
"W-what do you want?" I asked, my voice trembling.
He remained silent, staring at me intently before stepping back.
"I have been watching over you for years," he said in a dark, husky voice. "I need you."
What the hell is he talking about?
"To be specific, I need your blood."
My blood? He wants to kill me.
"Kill me?" I questioned, with fear across my face
"Don't worry, sweetheart. I don't want to kill you. In fact, it's the opposite. I need you alive for your help," he said gently in his dark voice
"What is it?" I asked, trying to steady my voice.
"Let's start with introductions since I already know about you. It's only fair if you know about me too," he said, walking across the room and sitting on my bed, legs crossed
"My name is Levi."
He paused, looking at me, his dark black eyes gliding over every inch of my body.
"Sweetheart, you can stop shivering like a leaf."
"Okay, fine, you are wary of me. if I'm a bad guy? But I'm not. Look, I've been taking care of you for a while. Didn't you notice? Random help from someone?" He gave me a small smile, meant to reassure me, but it had the opposite effect.
I thought about it. There had been unexplained events. The most recent one was in the forest. So he was the one who brought me to the room. That just made it creepier.
"Remember?" His smile widened, a chilling sight.
His dark, husky voice transformed into a bright, childlike tone, joy filling both his voice and his face.
"I was your knight in shining armour or should I say knight in the dark shadow," he laughs aloud.
Stalker and weirdo.
I must have had a strange expression on my face because it made him laugh even more.
"Ha-I knew meeting you face to face would be more fun. You always piqued my interest. Your expressions, your weaknesses, your helplessness. It was all fun to witness. Sometimes I felt bad, so I lent you a hand," he winked at me.
Exhausted from his blabbering, I asked angrily, "What the hell do you want from me?"
"My sweetheart, don't be angry. It just makes you look cuter."
My expression turned to disgust.
"Okay, okay. I don't like that look. It hurts my feelings," he said, pouting.
He stood up and walked towards me. His long legs made him reach me quickly. He stood right in front of me, his expression shifting from playful to serious. "I genuinely need your help. I request you to help me."
"What do you mean by help?" I asked, curiosity overcoming my fear.
"You just need to give me your blood at 32nd night"
"My blood?" I repeated, confused.
"Yes, as you can see, I'm a wizard. I know magic, but our magic is weaker compared to faerie magic. I need your blood, only yours. Your blood can help me break a faerie magic curse."
I listened silently. Can I trust him? He did help me many times. But let's not ignore the fact he stalked me for who knows how long. And he is a big weirdo.
"Don't trust me? I expected that, so I came up with an amazing deal that can benefit both of us. You give me your blood, and I will free you from this house of illusion. I saw the prince almost kill you. He might do it again. No one wants to die."
He stepped closer, his face inches from mine.
"You will be free. I will take you back to the human city You can hide among them and live like a normal person. I know about your childhood. I know everything. I can change your appearance. I can change your identity. You can live peacefully somewhere far away. Where no one will bother you. That's what you want." His dark eyes staring right through me , he continued with " I know you"
I stared at him. It sounded like a good deal. I almost agreed.
Don't trust anyone but yourself.
I said nothing.
He stepped back.
"I don't need your answer now, sweetheart. Think about it. I will come to you again."
A dark shadow enveloped him, and he vanished into thin air.
