It was early in the morning when I woke up feeling exhausted-mentally exhausted, to be exact. Last night, a mysterious and eerie wizard visited me and proposed a deal.

I didn't give it much thought; of course, it was a no. I had always been told that dark mages are evil humans who gave up their souls to the devil to gain dark magic. Their magic is said to be evil, worse even than that of the faeries.

Faerie magic is a gift from a god

while dark mage's magic is a gift from a devil.

I got up from my bed and took a fresh shower. Looking at myself in the mirror, I wore a black corset dress over a white shirt with a black necktie. The look was completed with black socks and shiny black shoes, the standard uniform for all the human maids. My long, wavy black hair cascaded down to my waist, which I always styled in a French braid.

Finally ready to go to work, I braced myself for another day of uncertainty.

There was a knock on the door. I opened it to find Elsa standing there. She greeted me with a polite bow, and I returned the gesture. Without a word, she pointed to herself and started walking, indicating that I should follow. She led me downstairs to where Miss Ariana was sitting in the lounge.

"Good morning, Miss Ariana," I said.

She ignored my greeting and said, "Ken told me what happened on your first day. Since he asked me, I considered appointing you to a different position, only because he said so."

She emphasized the last part, continuing with a frown of apparent disgust.

"But, I don't know what you did. The prince asked me to bring you to his room. I told him you were removed from the position of personal maid because you were not deserving. But, oh god, he got mad and told me to keep you as his maid. So, bad luck for you-you will start working for him as his personal maid again. You better get moving and go to him right away."

I froze.

What.
The.
Hell.

Didn't he hate me enough to choke me and kick me out of the room?

Miss Ariana and Elsa left the lounge, leaving me confused. I had no choice but to go to him.

I stood in front of his room for a few minutes before taking a deep breath and entering.

There he was, lounging on the same couch where he had slept before. He wore a black t-shirt, the first few buttons undone, exposing his bare chest and a partially visible tattoo. He held a glass of wine in one hand, his eyes closed.

Sensing my presence, he slowly opened his eyes. His red gaze sent shivers down my spine.

"Oh, you are here," he said, sipping the wine but not taking his eyes off me.

"I expected you to run from the castle. But look at you, standing bravely here. You are intolerable." His eyes seemed to darken as he spoke.

He raised his other hand, gesturing for me to come closer. I don't know what came over me, but I obeyed. Despite his attempt to kill me, I didn't feel fear even for a second.

I stepped closer.

He looked up to meet my gaze and handed me the glass.

"Go and bring me a cup of coffee," he demanded.

"What kind of tea do you prefer, your highness?" I asked.

"Anything," he replied nonchalantly.

I went to the kitchen and asked Miss Ana before brewing him coffee. She said he never drank coffee, so she didn't know what he wanted.

Since he always dressed in black and his whole house was black , i brought him a hot black coffee.

"Here is your coffee," I said.

he sighed.

"I don't like black coffee."

"Then what do you want, your highness?" I asked again.

"Anything," he repeated, clearly toying with me.

I returned to the kitchen and brewed him a coffee with milk.

He took a sip and made a disgusted face.

"Actually I dont like coffee get me something else to drink"

I went downstairs again and this time brought him milk tea.

He took a sip, then deliberately poured it on the floor.

"Oops," he said, dropping the cup, which shattered on the floor.

He stood up and left the room.

His petty bullying continued for a week.

He kept burdening me with more work, whether it was warming his water- sometimes too hot, sometimes too cold- or summoning me in the middle of the night to close his curtains or He wanted me early in the morning to wake him up and open the curtains.

It was exhausting.

He made me run all over the palace with his ridiculous demands.

Meanwhile, the strange wizard kept visiting me every night, asking about my decision. I kept saying no, but he persisted.

I'm stuck between two evils. I don't know who is worse.
