"I had a brother. A twin brother. He was the only family I had," he said as I bandaged his wound.

"We were only five when our own father sold us to the Faerie. We became their slaves."  He took a deep breath.

I finished bandaging him and sat beside him.

He continued, "We were just objects to her. When she was angry, I became her punching bag. When she was happy, she needed my brother. She kept him all night."

His jaw tightened, and his veins became visible as he tried his best to control himself.

I grabbed his hand resting on his lap. He turned his head towards me, and our eyes met. He squeezed my hand, and we interlocked our fingers. I felt warmth radiating through my whole body just from holding his hand.

He broke eye contact and looked straight ahead. "We spent our teens in that hell. Until one day, I made a mistake."

He paused for a few minutes. "She punished me by punishing my brother."

I could see him shivering, trying to control his emotions,

whether it was anger or tears.

"She put him in deep slumber But he trapped his soul in his body"

"He is in misery. I would do anything to get him out of it." He looked at me again.

"I tried killing my brother. Tried every method—poison, torture, everything. But his soul remains in his body."

I saw pure anger in his eyes, anger not for her, but for himself.

He was angry at himself.

"Your brother is the reason I'm here?" I asked, keeping my eyes on him. He nodded.

"Yeah. You can help him. You can free him from the misery. You can actually end him."

I understood him.

I knew what it felt like to be helpless.

My heart broke for him.

I felt the urge to hold him, to tell him I understood. I had always controlled my desires, but for the first time, I acted on them.

I wrapped my arms around him. His body stiffened in surprise, but after a few seconds, he relaxed, resting his head on my chest. I stroked his hair.

He had helped me numerous times. I remembered his words from before, when we first met.

"I was your knight in shining armor, or should I say knight in dark shadows?"

"Okay, fine, you're wary of me. Think I'm a bad guy? But I'm not. Look, I've been taking care of you for a while. Didn't you notice? Random help from someone?"

"Sometimes I felt bad, so I lent you a hand."

Even after that, he helped me.
He saved me from dying alone at night in the forest.
He saved me from the prince.
He saved me from the devil. He saved me from the witch.

Even if he had motives behind his help, he was the only one from all those monsters who helped me.

I didn't care if this world made him a monster. I would help him.
