Secret of the night

The devils night.
The 32nd night.
The night when the devil descended upon the world. The night when the first pact between man and devil was forged.
The night when the first dark magic was unleashed. The night when the first witch was born.
A night when every dark enchantment reached its peak.

🌑

Tonight will be the 32nd night. It is the night that follows the 31st night, an extra night where the sun does not rise, and instead, a second moon emerges—an ominous Dark Moon, blacker than the abyss. The beginning of the 32nd night. It is also the night I was born—on the night of the devil.

Tonight will be the night Levi's brother finally finds his peace. It will also be the night I become a witch—strong and unyielding.

I slipped into a red off-shoulder dress that had always hung untouched in my wardrobe. I had never worn it before, but today might be my last day here, so I might as well wear it.

As I gazed at my reflection, I rehearsed my plan in my mind.

*Knock, knock.*

The door creaked open, and Levi stepped inside.

"Are you ready—?"

His words trailed off as he saw me. His eyes traveled slowly from my face to my feet, filled with intense gaze. He walked toward me, and I watched him through the mirror. Standing behind me, he placed his hands on my shoulders. He was too tall for the mirror, so he bent down, his dark brown eyes locking with mine in the reflection.

"You look as beautiful as a rose," he murmured.

His straightforward compliment made my cheeks flush. He noticed, and his smile widened.

"Now you look even more beautiful than a rose."

I never knew how to take compliments well, so instead of thanking him, I moved away from the mirror and distanced myself from him.

He smirked. "My gorgeous prisoner, let's get going."

He led me to his room. As I walked in, I asked, "Why are we in your room?"

"You are wearing such a beautiful red dress," he said, his eyes raking over me again.
"I couldn’t help myself so I thought of locking you in my room." He winked at me

My face twisted in disgust.

He laughed heartily. "That anger... I don't mind being handled roughly," he said playfully.

I sighed.

Turning to the center of the room, he raised his hand. Suddenly, the room was enveloped in black smoke. As it dissipated, a black door appeared in the middle of the room.

"Let's go," he said.

I followed him through the door. We entered a bright white room filled with lilies, their beautiful scent permeating the air. In the center of the room lay a large bed. His twin brother was there, reduced to a skeleton, trapped in a decomposed body of bones.

His soul still resided in those bones, imprisoned forever. Levi had to see him like this every day—his twin, his brother, his family.

"How do I help him?" I asked, my eyes never leaving his brother.

"The devil I made the deal with will come as soon as the 31st night ends. You must give him your blood to help my brother," Levi said.

Perfect.

That’s what I had anticipated. My blood alone wouldn’t save his brother, but the devil would help him inexchange for it. The attack by those mages had confirmed my suspicions.

I had a plan. I would ask the devil to make me a witch. I would betray him. I felt a pang of guilt but knew I had to do it. I wondered if Levi would ever forgive me.

"Levi..." I called.

He looked at me.

"Thank you for everything..."

He looked away, avoiding my gaze since we had entered the room. His favorite part of mine was his eyes—the way he looked at me made me feel like the most beautiful person in the world. It gave me confidence.

"I'm lucky to mee—"

Before I could finish, thunder rumbled outside, and lightning struck within the room.

Suddenly, he was there.

My heart pounded as his red eyes locked onto me. My body trembled. Levi vanished beside me, reappearing in front of me to shield me.

"Hello, Leviathan," the seventh prince said.
