The Luna's Fated Choice

Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten: Moonlit Confrontations 

Her heart is racing from the interruption. She's torn between what may be happening outside and wondering if she knows Darius' true personality. The mate bond is supposed to ensure that there is perfect trust but something is unsettling about Darius' sudden behavior switch and the way he evaded her questions.

Kiadaria whirls out of the bedroom. She's not used to taking a backseat in conflict. Joshua always included her in serious pack business. While he made a show of being in absolute control as Alpha, he made it clear that where he goes his Luna goes. Shining Moon pack is used to a more 'traditional' Luna that stands behind her man. The women are more subservient to the men and that's not going to work for Kiadaria. At the Rising Moon pack, women proved themselves as equal and sometimes more capable than their counterparts. 

When she enters the main hall, everything is turned upside down. The snarls and growls of wolves fill any silence. The scene is very contrast to the warm and celebratory vibe that Darius and herself left when it was time to retire for the evening. 

Her eyes catch Lyra and Darius in wolf form and poised for battle against one another. "What the fuck is going on here!" She yells through all of the noise and hears the whimper of a few wolves in return as things come to a stand still. 

Lyra snarls at Kiadaria. Her face is twisted as she bares her teeth. "He's not who you think he is. I don't know everything, but what I do know lets me know he doesn't want you to be aware of something big that he's hiding." 

Darius' eyes are narrowed in a menacing warning. "Lyra, this isn't what you want to do. You need to back down. This isn't the time -"

Lyra's voice rises as she refuses to be kept silent. "I used to think you were the sun, the moon, and all my stars. You were perfect to me" she spats out the words laced with poison. "You want me to keep your secrets but not to be your Luna. I know about the past and the things that you've done, although it took me time to put it all together. And I'll tell her...I swear i'll fucking tell her." 

Kiadaria looks to Darius with wide eyes. "What is she talking about? What's going on?"

Lyra laughs with a haughty and bitter sound. "Yes Kiadaria, ask him about his secrets, about every little thing he's kept from you." 

Darius' jaw clenches and he howls in sheer fury. "Shut the fuck up Lyra!" 

Lyra snarls once more. "You've been playing us both! I'm sick of it and I'm sick of you!" 

Kiadaria's heart feels fragile. "What?" 

"Ask him about Joshua. Ask him about his past. He's NOT what he seems to be." The intent to harm drips in Lyra's tone. 

"What do you  mean, Lyra?" Darius asks with a deadly hush. 

"Come the fuck on!" Lyra almost pleads in frustration. "You've been lying to her since she met you. You're lying to her about your past and your connection to Joshua." 

Darius shifts and suddenly becomes calm in his human form. "You're not making any sense. You need to stop what you're attempting to do here." 

"No! You aren't going to gaslight me. I am making PERFECT sense." Lyra's voice rises. "You're using her and manipulating her just like you did to me." 

Darius steps forward using his Alpha influence. "You need to calm down. You aren't making sense. You are just jealous that you aren't Luna. You're jealous of how much better a woman, Luna, and mate Kiadaria is than you. You're so fucking jealous of our bond and most importantly that I chose her over you." 

Kiadaria finally understands what is going on here. It's clear that Lyra and Darius were more at some point and Lyra is hurting over the loss of what they had. Kiadaria feels contrite for the other woman. "Lyra, is he telling the truth?"
