Chapter Thirteen: Beyond The Shadows Of Time

He found this ancient tomb when he was a young boy, running from the pressures of being Alpha Marcus' underwhelming heir. Well, more so like pulled with a magnetic force he couldn't fight to the tomb. There were many books and many items within but he's spent forever deciphering one tome, and the allure of it's time weathered pages.

The entity that met him within this tomb guided his dark magic over the years, making him more and more powerful. He became more and more successful the more he followed the entity's instruction. Darius became more confident, more capable, and more handsome. There came to be nothing he couldn't have and yet a dark emptiness filled him and he yearned for truth that he couldn't fathom was missing. He believed the answer was in this tomb in these books.

As he reads, a sudden revelation, that missing piece just clicks into place. The missing truth revealed of the past life he lived and of course in it are Kiadaria and Joshua. Memories of the far away ancient life unlocked and he was flooded with all the memories of love and a bond that even time could not put an end to.

In every lifetime, Darius was an outside to that love. He was more deservant and more thirsty for it but never received it. All he could do was become more and more consumed by jealousy and rage that fueled ambition. In every lifetime he masters different levels of the dark arts and follows them, seeking to sever their bond and to eternally claim Kiadaria as his own to feed the fuel of the entity.

He can feel the entity purr within him. It's presence has become stronger since Kiadaria agreed to become his mate and Luna. He had not known then what he knew now, he just knew he had to have her and that in this lifetime, they share the mate bond. The entity speaks in a sensual and ancient voice promising that with the return of these memories...this time will be different.

The entity promises that if this time Darius succeeds in binding Kiadaria to him, he will rise to unimaginable power. The entity is promising godhood, an unimaginable level of power, immortal, and ruling all wolves forever. But if he loses her to Joshua, he would die, his soul erased from all existence. There is no next life time after this one.

Darius snarls at the understanding. He can't let that happen. He has to pressure Kiadaria into the mate bond ceremony. He must make her his before Joshua can make a claim and bind to her. He will stop at nothing to achieve his goal.

The darkness within him grew, spreading and swirling in all of his being. It consumes his soul. Darius is no longer a man, or a wolf, but a vessel for ancient evil. He will use this power to claim all that he believes to rightfully be his, because he's willing to do what must be done, sacrifice himself, to have it: absolute power.

Darius' eyes gleam with the new power and determination as he closes up the ancient tomb. He will secure his place as a god. Kiadaria is his, within his grasp, and he will stop at nothing to claim her.

He makes her way to her bedroom. Kiadaria looks up from the documents she looks over and her eyes narrow as she senses the new energy radiating off of him.

"What is wrong with you?" Her voice is cautious.

Darius gives a disarming smile. He smoothly comes close to her, setting the papers down and bringing her into his arms. "Nothing is wrong, my Luna." His voice takes on a supernatural  seductive tone. "I just needed to see your beautiful face."

His fingers brush her cheek with the gentleness she remembers from him. His dark chocolate eyes burn with intensity that makes her cheeks go red. His fingers run along her jaw and for the first time, in a while, the electric current of the mate bond's attraction feeling flows up and down her spine.

"You really are so-so-so beautiful to me. Fucking gorgeous really..."He whispers huskily and dangerously. "You're so radiant and you really light up all my shadows" Darius' lips brush across her cheek and to her ear. "I need you. I need you to chase away all the shadows. I need your touch and your love."

Kiadaria's heart is racing. Her body responds with heightened sensitivity to Darius' sensual words and gentle touches. She's becoming lost in him. She's quickly losing herself. But Akira's words flash through her mind like red lights.

"Darius" her body trembles as he sucks and kisses her neck and exposed bosom. She makes her voice firm. "Darius, stop!"

"Don't say no...." His grip tightens and he whispers. "I can make you feel pleasure that will change history. I can make you forget every dark thought and bad feeling. Don't resist, you want this. I need you."

She pushes against him afraid that at any moment she'll give into his dark desire. "I said to stop, Darius."

His face becomes a storm and his eyes flash anger like lightening. However it lasts so fleeting as instantly his expression changes and he appears the man she knows as his mask is firmly in place. "Forgive me my Luna." his voice is comforting and smooth. "I desire you so badly as we plan the mate bond ceremony. I temporary lost myself and became carried away. I would never hurt you."

The way his seduction quickly plummeted her into a ditch where she lacked self control scared her. Along with Akira's warning, she knows she can't trust him, not now, and never again. She can not give into this man.

While her eyes never left his, she will no longer ignore all of the warning signs that she has gathered. If she makes one wrong move, then the unthinkable could occur, she may lose her life, her soul, or both.

"I need some space and time to think." She says with a firm voice and creating space between them, afraid he'll touch her again and she will not resist this time; or he will not stop.

Darius's smile doesn't reach his guarded and observant eyes. "Of course, my Luna. I am here if you need anything. Take your time."

She nods with a thin smile and put on the facade that all is well but once the door closes behind her  she runs. She ran and and her feet pitter patter and echo through the empty Alpha house, once filled with a warm, happy, and celebratory pack. No one comes to the Alpha house, in fear of it's Alpha.

She realizes that something has shifted in Darius and that he will stop at nothing to claim her. What makes her more afraid is that despite the danger, she feels drawn to him. The mate bond makes her crave him and wants to fall into the darkness with him.

"Resist the darkness." She chants to herself in a desperate plea.

Kaidaria remembers the rumors of Joshua's change. She knows that it'll be risky, but she can only try to go to him for protection. Taking nothing, Kiadaria slips out of the Alpha house and walks around the grounds until she's sure Darius' eyes aren't on her and she runs off into the night. She aches to get to Joshua and for the rumors to be true.

Beyond the shadows, a glimmer of hope returns.
