Chapter Three: Tensions Rise

After the meeting, the day went on with a blur and Kiadaria did all she could to remain focused on her job as Luna. Her thoughts kept returning to the fact that Alpha Darius is her mate and also that there could be much conflict on the horizon. An unsettled feeling followed the entire day as she held the fear that Joshua sensed the bond and would storm into any moment to confront her on the lack of her rejecting the other male.

"I can't just hate him and go off into the sunset with a handsome inexperienced stranger." Kiadaria writes the thought in her journal.

Although she had not asked for the title of Luna, she took the position seriously and for years it's been her life's dedication. She has worked tirelessly to please Rising Moon pack and its alpha. So, in one way, she is plagued with loyalty to Joshua and their unofficial and unconsummated union. Her identity is woven into all the dysfunction, pain, confusions, and success of the life she's built with Joshua.

Putting away her journal and getting into bed, Kiadaria reflects on memories of Joshua's possessive and domineering affections. He's never taken her to bed but his rough kisses and forceful touches always left her feeling bad about herself. She doesn't want to like when he fondles her or makes her fondle him, but she orgasms.

"If I don't like it then why does it feel good?" She thinks to herself, a bitter taste in her mouth as she can't deny the attraction she has for Joshua but also hates the memories of his intimate claims without consent, or more so forced consent.

Or consent? I don't really know anymore. The lines are so blurred between what I started off feeling, what I had to feel, and maybe what I wish I felt vs what I truly feel now.

Kiadaria also knows she is a coward.

She should have told Joshua she didn't feel the same way a long time ago but she has always understood that he wouldn't care. He sees her as his rightful claim. He's hit her before and broken bone, knocked out teeth as well but the wolf healing covers the signs of the abuse but not the mental and emotional scars she wears from it.

Thinking back to Alpha Darius' words, and the way his eyes drank her in, makes Kiadaria consider the opportunity for a moment peace. Her loins almost feel on fire as she thinks about her mate. It's a short lived thought as she puts out the glimmer of hope.

"I'm bound to Joshua, he's killed over me. Entertaining Darius will ensure war." She whispers to herself in the dark.

Her body goes shift because she smells his smokey and woodsy scent before she sees his outline in the dark room.

Joshua has entered and she worries if he heard her words. The bed dips as he gets in beside her. Joshua's arms envelope her like heavy chains of power and weight. His large and rough hands are on her back and beneath her clothing. His dominance and his will are unmistakable even in the way his fingers splay across her skin.

His blue eyes shine like rare gems in the dark. He pulls her into his iron hard chest. "You are my everything, my mate and my Luna. " He whispers near her ear and kisses below her earlobe. "I know the meeting went unwell and may have brought up some painful memories. I will never let them disrespectful you. You are Luna, you are MY Luna. I will never let you go...I will never choose another. It will always be you."

Kiadaria finds it hard to position herself naturally.

Although he's never taken her innocence she always worries when it will be the day that he will take things further than ever before. Her heart races with fear and the unknown. His hold tightens to a point of uncomfortable pain.
