Message For Everyone

Everything on this Earth will come to an end, will expire, will perish, will die. The only thing that will remain in existence is the face of your Lord, the One of Majesty and the One of Generosity. [Quran 55:26,27]

There is something greater than the sweet, the lovely, and the enjoyable things we see in this world.

That is the company of Allah, the Most Generous and the Most Majestic.

And you know what they think of Allah?

They think God is terrible, they think that God is scary,
They think that God is angry,
They think that God wants to punish them,
That God hates them.

It's why everybody is always making people afraid of Allah.

"Fear Allah! Fear Allah!"

To the extent that there are people who grow up hearing this all the time and think that Allah Almighty does not love and that Allah Almighty does not have mercy.  "My mercy," Allah says,
"Encompasses everything; it is greater than everything."

And the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
informed us that Allah Almighty conveyed to him,

"My mercy has preceded, has come before, has outweighed my anger."
(Riyadh as-Salihin 419)

Because the first name Allah introduced Himself with is what?

"In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."

That's how He introduced Himself.

Allah tells us in the Quran that every human being has been given some status, some honor, some status, some karam (generosity, kindness, or nobility) to every human being in this world (Quran 17:70), every human being, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, deserves some form of respect and rights. Allah says, "We have given karam (honor, dignity, respect) to every child of Adam." So those people who tell you, "Oh! There's a disbeliever; we should hate them! We should spit at them! We should abuse them!"—this is not something that was taught by the Prophet ﷺ. Allah says, indeed, we have certainly honored the children of Adam!" (Quran 17:70) But every human being deserves a form of respect. We don't have to agree with them. We don't have to love them. We don't have to be best buddies, you know. But we have to respect them and give a basic form of respect to them. Every human being is a creation of Allah that deserves karam (generosity, kindness, or nobility) because Allah is the one who bestowed upon them karam. Allah Almighty says in Surah Al-Infitar, "O man! What has deceived you about your gracious Lord, who created you, fashioned you, and perfected your design, molding you in whatever form He willed?" (Quran 82:6,7,8) "Allah says, O man!" He doesn't say, "O people," He says, "O human being," as if He is addressing you alone, just by yourself. "What has deceived you about your gracious Lord?" He asks a question to every human being who hears this, whether Muslim or non-Muslim. What has deceived you? Who fooled you about your generous Lord? Who made you think that Allah was not generous? Who made you think that Allah was not merciful? Who made you think that Allah Almighty was oppressive? Who deceived you?
Did someone lie to you and say that Allah is not generous? He is Kareem, the Most Generous; He is the Most Giving, the Most Merciful, the Most Forgiving. If you come to Him sincerely, He will accept you. What made you stray so far from Allah that you thought there was no way back to Him? This message—that Allah is harsh, that Allah is unforgiving, that Allah wants to oppress, that Allah wants to torture—has no place in the Quran. There is a balance. But in this ayah, Allah calls out to those who are far from Him.
Those people who disbelieved in Him. Those people who struggle to even perform their regular daily prayers, those who have sinned, who have committed major sins and minor sins, who have strayed from the path, who are lost. You know, a parent, if their child had disobeyed them to the extent of leaving the house, might say, "Go further, I never want to see your face again." But Allah Almighty, when one of us is far from Him, says, "Oh human being," and then He uses His name, "What has deceived you about your Gracious Lord?" Who fooled you? Who deceived you? Who lied to you? Who misled you about the nature of your loving, nurturing, and caring Master, Allah Al-Kareem (The Gracious)? He emphasizes that even when you feel far away and think there’s no way back, He says, "I am Generous; I have plenty of room for you in Jannah." When you disbelieve, when you give up, when you fall on your knees, when you go astray. When you stop praying, when you start smoking, when you go back and fall into your addiction, back into your bad habits, Allah says, "Don't worry, I am Kareem (Generous), I have space for you, come back. There's always room for you in this house. There's always room for you in my Jannah (Paradise). Don't go far, come back." This is what Allah says even when He is addressing disbelievers who reject the Day of Judgment and reject Him.
He describes Himself as Kareem (Generous, kind, loving, and honorable). When we introduce Allah to non-Muslims, we should emphasize these traits of Allah. Allah is not just fire and brimstone; Allah is not just Might and Power. He is Kareem; He is Generous, and He is Merciful.

Do you know who is going to correct their thoughts about Allah?

YOU, nobody else, talk to your neighbors, talk to your colleagues, smile at them, show them kindness. Oh! Human beings, wherever you are, whoever you are, remind them: "What has deceived you about your gracious Lord?" Allah is more generous than you think.
