I felt as the car turned into the parking lot of beacon hills high, my uncle sitting in the drivers seat and my mom in the passenger, Allison sitting next to me in the back, she hasn't spoken to me since our fight last night, I glanced through the windshield to see a sheriffs cop car was driving in front of us, the dark red SUV that we were all sitting in quickly stopping in front of the double doors to the school, my uncle wouldn't let us drive ourselves back to school, the first day back after the attack, I glanced toward my cousin as she tried to open the door, but it wouldn't budge, it was locked, I didn't acknowledge her much as she tried again to open the door clearly not grasping the concept of locked, I glanced up at the brick building, that nights events replaying in my head over and over again

Allison angrily sighed as she leaned forward in the middle of my mom and uncle "Dad, if you're going to insist on driving us to school, you at least have to let us out the car"

I witnessed as my uncle looked all around to see deputies posted everywhere, but he quickly turned toward my mom as he questioned "Kate, what's your opinion on homeschooling?"

I heard Allison scoff as she looked in between them, I rolled my eyes while glancing out the window for a split second before turning my sight back to them, my mom clicked her tongue to the roof of her mouth as she answered "Hmm, well, you know, I'm more of a learning by doing kind of girl"

Allison glared at her dad before turned her attention back to my mom "what's your opinion on overprotective dads who keep ruining their daughters lives?"

I just sat there quietly looking in between them all as I watched the scene unfold, my mom glanced to Allison and then towards my uncle before smirking, she leaned over him and unlocked the door with a big smile, my uncle glared toward his sister as Allison's smiled at her with a whisper "thank you" my mom quickly whispered back as she smiled toward her "you're welcome"

Allison climbed out the car as I scooted to the middle seat and leaned back before glancing in between the two adults sitting up front

"I haven't been scared of anything in 5 years..." the tone in my voice came out calm, but the fear that was rumbling in my chest was unrecognizable, I glanced up at the school before leaning closer to my mom and Uncle and continuing "but this alpha, he terrifies me"

I looked towards my mom as I saw her reach down in the floor and pull up my Chinese ring dagger from the ground, she quickly handed it to me, and I hesitantly grabbed it "then you probably shouldn't have left this on your bed"
