Iris POV:

It was a brand-new day and I was at the place for the tournament now standing outside with my usual group of friends. I was still pissed at Miguel from last night but he's still my friend nonetheless. As we were chillin we were interrupted by the sound of miguel throwing air punches trying to get in some last minute practice for the tournament

"Yo, Miguel, man, calm down, save some for the tournament," Hawk told him, likely getting tired of the noises he made every time he threw a punch. Miguel only responded with a glare and kept going

"Hey don't even bother with it, he's been super aggro ever since the break up" Aisha said

"That's his own fault for being a prick" I said while rolling my eyes

"Hey where's sensei the tournaments gonna start soon" hawk questioned while looking around

"Hey he'll be here" Aisha told him reassuringly

"I don't know about that" Bert chimed in making us turn our attention toward him

"What are you talking about?" I asked wondering what he meant by that

"I saw him last night at the mini-mall, i was buying a carton of milk...when i heard him in the parking lot yelling" He recalled the events from the previous night

"Why didn't you tell us this earlier" Aisha questioned angrily

"I don't know, i guess i'm used to seeing him drunk it didn't seem like that big of a deal" Bert said trying to defend himself

"Well we're here and he's not so its officially a big deal" Hawk spat at him "what if something happened to him?"

"Like what"

"Like he drove his car off a cliff or bought a gun and blew his brains out"

"Hawk don't be so dramatic sensei is crazy but he's not that crazy" i said trying to ease the tension

"No. Sensei would never kill himself. That's too pussy a move" aisha chimed

"Aisha!" I exclaimed giving her a look

"I'm just saying what sensei would say!" she defended

"Whatever i mean we're here we're gonna have to do it without him" hawk concluded making me sigh. This day was already getting off to a bad start

"Do what without me?" we heard a voice said and we turned around and it was sensei! I let out a sigh of relief, i knew he wouldn't bail on us like that

"Sensei. We didn't think you were gonna show up" Aisha told him but also now relieved he's here

"I may not always win but i never back out of a fight"

"Alright. Lets sign up" Miguel said plainly just wanting to sign up and go practice

"Not yet. There's one more lesson i have to teach you" sensei informed us making me tilt my head in curiosity wondering what he had in store for us now

We were now inside the building standing in a group listening carefully to what sensei had to say

"You've all learned to strike first, to be aggressive, not to be losers. I taught you to strike hard, put every ounce of your power behind everything you do. But i haven't taught you the third rule of cobra kai" He Began before taking a pause

"No mercy." He concluded looking at all of us "The older you get, the more you're gonna learn that life isn't fair. You wake up one morning feeling great, then life throws a spinning heel kick to your balls, takes a big steaming shit in your mouth. You get a F on a test, you get suspended. You fall in love with a girl and some other dude comes and steals her away" I knew that last part was targeted at miguel who lowered his head with a sad look on his face "Car gets set on fire" he continued making his way toward where me aisha and hawk were standing "Just when you think things are going good everything falls apart. That's how it goes."
