Chapter 9

Iris POV:
I had spent the previous night at robbys place since we haven't had much alone time together since this whole thing started and we had planned to go out later today but right now the both of us were still deep in our sleep cuddled on the couch together, it was peaceful for a moment. That was until i started feeling robby shifting around in his sleep i began to think maybe he was having a nightmare or something so i slowly opened my eyes to see he was wide awake

"Robby what's wrong?" I asked him groggily only half awake wondering what's got him so alert

"I heard something it sounded like the door unlocking i think someones trying to break in" he rushed and got off the couch to investigate and i was now more awake to see what was going on, i heard a man's voice saying "Come on get the stuff and let's get out of here we don't have all day" " he sounded like he was in a hurry. Was someone really trying to break in? I slowly followed behind robby silently to get a closer look and before i knew it robby attacked the guy and i rushed to the phone ready to call the police until robbys mother came out of the room looking frantic and turned the light on quickly running to the man we previously thought was trying to break in "Oh my god rick are you okay?" she asked him worriedly afraid he was hurt then she turned to robby looking upset

"Robby, what is wrong with you?!" she instantly scolded

"What's wrong with him? We thought someone was trying to break in while we were asleep!" I argued back, this woman can't be for real right now. Did she really just ask what's wrong with him while there's a random man in here?? That i may add isn't robbys dad either?

"What's wrong with me? You haven't been here in days, I thought someone broke in!" he shouted back at her. This woman and her audacity.

"Okay. okay i'm sorry i just came to grab a few things cause uh rick is flying me to cabo" she revealed

"Cabo- adjacent" He corrected

"Okay" she replied not really caring about what the difference is

"Wait, you're going to mexico? With this guy? For how long? I mean we have rent to pay and i don't have-" robby questioned her, she just came home and she's already leaving him again with so many responsibilities

"Don't worry because Rick you're paying this month right?" she asked him while waiting for his confirmation and he nodded "I got you pal" he chuckled in a lighthearted tone and i just looked utterly deadpan.

"Oh that's what i need" she muttered while finding whatever she was looking for

"When are you coming back?" robby asked her quietly

"A few days" she said looking to the guy once again

"A week and a half tops" he added on

"Yeah so you have the whole place to yourself" SHe joked giving him a kiss on the head "Don't party too hard"

"And no funny business either" Rick joked looking between the both of us insinuating we would be doing... those activities which only made me look visibly sick to my stomach. We are teenagers for fucks sake. I gave robby a look and he looked just as disgusted as i did

"Well we better head out our flight is leaving soon, i'll call you tomorrow sweetie i promise. I love you" and with that she left the apartment leaving robby alone once again looking visibly upset and i gave him a hug from behind but before rick left robby had one more thing to say to him

"You hurt her and next time you wont get up" he threatened meaning he would kick his ass if he hurt his mother

"Ooh so scared" rick said sarcastically and left

"I'm really sorry love" I told him apologetically resting my head on his shoulder

"Don't be.. I'm used to it.. I just wish sometimes she would stay at home longer and not go. Trying to find new boyfriends" he sighed out. He just wanted his mom back. She was all the family he had considering his relationship with his dad isn't the best..
