(The kids head inside the house. Inside, Mrs. Paguro is preparing food at a flat rock that serves as a kitchen counter to their left.)

Luca: Hi, Mom!

Mrs. Paguro: (Still making the food, not turning around) Hi, honey. I thought you said you were spending more time on the surface.

Luca: W-well, I would have, but... I've got Alberto and Giulia with me...

Mrs. Paguro: Mm. It was nice of you to bring them. Why don't you let them stay around for lunch? Although... I suppose Giulia would have to bring it to the surface...

Luca: N-no, Mom, it's not like that... It's... different th-than last time...

Mrs. Paguro: (Still has her back to him) Mhm.

Luca: Mom... Giulia's a sea monster.

Mrs. Paguro: I see- (Realizing) She's a what?

(Once she turns around, the kids are all together, with Giulia looking up at her with a nervous smile. She instantly comes right to her to cup the bottom of her face in one hand and stroke the fins on her head with the other with a motherly sense of worry.)

Mrs. Paguro: Are you okay, sweetheart? Does anything hurt? Is there anything I can get for you? I know there's been a lot of changes, and it's perfectly okay if you need our support-

Luca: MOM.

Mrs. Paguro: (Easing up) Right, right... (Calling out to the entrance to another room) Honey, we have guests!

Mr. Paguro: (Coming in through the entrance with a seaweed wrap-like snack) Hello, son! ...Alberto... Giulia... (Looking away before looking back and spitting out the food with a cough)

(At the end of that moment, Grandma also comes in through the entrance and doesn't look fazed in the slightest.)

Grandma: Well, would you look at that? That's a new one.

Giulia: It's a... really long story... (Looking down and rubbing the back of her head)

Luca: Actually, Grandma, we came here to talk to you about it.

Alberto: We think that someone in Giulia's family was a sea monster, and if we find out who it is, we might be able to turn her back.

Luca: (Hopeful) Do you know anyone who might've left for the surface down here? Anyone at all?

Grandma: (Thinking for a moment) I didn't... but my own mother did.

(She goes to sit at the rock table that serves as the kitchen table with the kids coming to the other end. Giulia looks a bit confused that there's no chairs, but Luca just shakes his head to demonstrate what to do.)

Grandma: It was a long time ago, before I was even born, and she was just a kid. But she told me the story, so I might as well tell you.

Alberto: (Leaning in) Who was it?? Did they really go to the surface all the time?

Giulia: (Smirk, nudging him) Looks like you weren't the first one.

(Alberto puts his hand over her mouth, for once too eager to respond.)

Grandma: (Small chuckle) One thing at a time, kiddo. Like I said, my mom knew a sea monster that left for the surface—or so we think. His name was Giovanni Corallo, and he was pretty popular in the town, or as popular as you can be in a place like this.
