A few days had passed since the marking ceremony, and the once peaceful atmosphere within the Lunar Vanguard pack had become tense. The Crimson Claw pack had requested a meeting, and the members of the Lunar Vanguard knew it wouldn't be a simple discussion. News of Sunoo's marking in their pack had clearly reached the Crimson Claw, and their intentions were uncertain.
Sunoo stood with Sunghoon, Jay, Jungwon, Jake, and other key members of the pack, preparing for the arrival of the Crimson Claw representatives. The meeting was to take place in a neutral clearing near the border between the two territories, a spot chosen for its openness and visibility.
Sunoo's newly awakened wolf senses were heightened, making him hyper-aware of the tension in the air. He felt Sunghoon's reassuring hand on his shoulder, grounding him amidst the anxiety. Sunghoon's presence was a steady anchor, and Sunoo took a deep breath, drawing strength from their bond.
"They're here," Jay announced, his voice calm but firm. His eyes scanned the treeline, where figures were beginning to emerge.
The Crimson Claw pack approached, led by their Alpha, a tall, imposing figure named Jiyoon. His piercing eyes scanned the Lunar Vanguard group, settling on Sunoo with a cold, calculating gaze. Beside him stood Jisoo, a familiar and unsettling presence for Sunoo. His eyes locked onto him, and a cruel smile tugged at hi lips.
Sunoo felt a chill run down his spine making him step closer to his mate. Fear took every cell of his body but he stood his ground, flanked by his new pack members.
Markus stopped a few feet away, his expression unreadable. "Thank you for agreeing to this meeting," he began, his voice deep and resonant. "We have some matters to discuss."
Jay stepped forward, his stance strong and authoritative. "What do you want, Markus?" he asked bluntly. "We've made it clear that Sunoo is under our protection."
Markus's lips curled into a faint smile. "Ah, yes, Sunoo. The runaway omega. You do know that he belongs to our pack, don't you? He was born as one of ours."
Sunoo bristled at the term "belong," but before he could respond, Sunghoon spoke up, his voice cold and firm. "Sunoo doesn't belong to anyone. He is free to choose where he wants to be, and he has chosen to be with us."
A laugh escaped Markus's lips. "Choose? He is an omega he doesn't get to choose anything."
Sunghoon gritted his teeth and stepped closer. It was obvious that he is ready to attack but was stopped by a silent command from Jay.
"You don't get to stand here and insult my pack member, Markus. Sunoo is a Lunar Vanguard's member and in my pack, everyone chooses their destiny".
Jisoo, standing beside his father, chuckled softly. "Really, Sunoo? You think you can just leave? You were ours, and you know the consequences of trying to run. You tried before, didn't you?"
Sunoo felt his heart race, memories of his cruel treatment flashing through his mind. He felt like hiding behind his mate and letting him talk for him. He is scared and the world is Crumbling around him until he felt a soft touch around his waist.
Sunoo clenched his fists, trying to steady his breathing. "I'm not going back," he said, his voice steady despite the fear clawing at him. "I left because I was being mistreated, because I was unhappy, because you assaulted me."
A murmur ran through the Crimson Claw pack, their expressions hardening. Markus raised a hand, silencing them. "That's quite the accusation, Sunoo" he said, his voice cold. "But it's irrelevant. You have no clues."
He turned to Jay addressing him "Sunoo was part of our pack, and by the laws, he belongs to us."
Jay stepped forward again, his voice sharp and a small smirk decoratedhis lips. "Your laws don't apply here, Markus. Sunoo is now part of the Lunar Vanguard pack. He is marked by our second in command and we will not allow any harm to come to him."
