CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR christmas
.·:*¨༺ ☾ ༻¨*:·.
𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐏𝐄𝐑 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐃 to spend Christmas at the Burrow. She sat in the living room with Tonks, Remus, and Arthur, the four of them listening as Harry told them his suspicions about Draco, who was apparently doing some sort of mission for Voldemort.
Juniper's brows pulled together, a deep frown tugging on her lips. She understood that the Dark Lord was cruel, but forcing a child to do his bidding was just inhumane. It reminded her slightly of when Dorothea had been possessed by his younger self and unknowingly attacked the Muggle-born students at Hogwarts.
She could only imagine what Narcissa must be going through. They hadn't spoken much lately due to the current circumstances of the wizarding world, but when she saw her at the train station when she met Andromeda and Ted to pick up Dorothea, she did look rather stressed.
"Voldemort has chosen Draco Malfoy for a mission?" Remus repeated for clarification when Harry was done talking.
"I know it sounds mad," Harry said.
"Has it occurred to you, Harry, that Snape was simply pretending to offer Draco help so he could find out what he was up to?"
"That's not what it sounded like."
"Perhaps Harry's right, Remus," Tonks spoke up. "I mean, to make an Unbreakable Vow—"
"It comes down to whether or not you trust Dumbledore's judgment," Remus interrupted. "Dumbledore trusts Snape, therefore I do."
"I'm not so sure Dumbledore is the right person to put your trust in, Remus," Juniper mumbled. After all, many people had trusted him in the past, and now those same people were dead.
"Dumbledore can make mistakes," Harry argued. "He said so himself."
"You are blinded by hatred!" Remus snapped.
"I'm not!"
"Yes you are." Remus sighed and lowered his voice. "People are disappearing, Harry. Daily. We can only place our trust in a handful of people. If we start fighting amongst ourselves, we're doomed."
As the conversation came to an end, Juniper left the living room and went into the kitchen. Dorothea was sitting at the table with her headphones on and her pen scribbling in the new journal that Andromeda had gifted to her.
Porcus was walking around the kitchen with his snout to the ground, looking for scraps of food that got dropped. He snorted in delight as he ate a few veggies that had fallen off of Dorothea's plate by accident. The 15 year old smiled softly and leaned down to scratch her beloved pig behind the ears.
